Assistant Professor

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To contribute to teaching & learning

SCOPE

The Assistant Professor reports directly to the Academic HOD’s and provides teaching & learning and research services. Providing adequate teaching & learning services will ensure that best support to students

Qualification: BTECH MTECH ME & PHD

RESPONSIBILITIES WORKLOAD NORMS

a) All full-time faculty members should perform a minimum of 40 hours of work per week b) The 40 hours is only the minimum, but a faculty member is expected to devote more time in connection with execution of sponsored and funded projects, consultancy work, continuing education, outreach programs, skill development initiatives, etc. Teaching -Learning

 Teaching as per AICTE/VTU norms and ensure 100 % results in respective subjects and aim at achieving ranks/distinction to the institution

 Prepare course material , lesson plans for the course assigned .Deliver lectures using innovative methods and technology- Activity based learning , Group tasks, lesson planning and execution, Technology enabled learning- Internet and ICT Techniques

 Assist students for improving their learning in academics, Identify and improve average students- through remedial , Tutorial , revision classes

 Supervise students projects, organize and accompany field trips and industrial visit

 Arrange re-enforcement classes by academic or industry experts- contribute to the introduction of new academic programmers in the emerging areas relevant to the society, innovative curriculum and new methodology of teaching and evaluation.

 Mandatory work like paper setting, invigilation, evaluation, conduct internal test, semester examination, and university examinations with utmost integrity

 Assisting the students in the lab to improve the practical knowledge of the student and encourage for developing creative ideas., Research and Development

 Attend /Conduct at least 1 faculty development programmers, short–term courses, professional society meetings, National / International Conferences, seminars conferences by professional institutions, reading recent technical journal articles and periodicals and going through the web sites of world class Universities.

 Complete at least 1 certified course with NPTEL / MOOC/ SWAYAM and also motivate students to enroll for the same.

 Publish 1 or 2 papers in reputed journals (SCI or SSCI)(Scopus, Elsevier, or UGC approved journals

 Present papers in national or International conferences

 Sponsored and funded research projects: should browse the web sites of various funding agencies, advertisement, etc., periodically and submit research proposals in the proper format to those agencies to secure funding assistance for research and acquiring facilities such as equipment, instruments, etc.

 Guide student’s project work. Encourage students to submit proposals for securing funding assistance from agencies

 Continuation education activities, self-development through upgrading qualification, experience and professional activities. Constantly update his/her knowledge, familiarize himself/herself with the problem of industry by going through industry publications, attending professional society meetings etc., to establish contact and get to know the problem of industry Other Activities

 Involving in Co – Curricular-arrange guest lectures, seminars, FDP’s, workshops, exhibitions, industry visits, educational tours and Extra – Curricular Activities- be part of any committee and organize events such as sports day, Annual day, Technical fest, cultural fest etc..
