POSITION: The Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, is seeking to hire a tenured or tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant/Associate level in the area of the Learning Sciences, with a preferred specialization of research in language processing and/or literacy development throughout the lifespan. Priority will be given to applicants with a demonstrated record of external funding and experimentally based research production. Expertise in eye-tracking, EEG, cognitive aging, and/or cognitive approaches to educational technologies is highly desirable. The ability to teach occasional basic or advanced courses in quantitative methods is also desirable.

The Department of Educational Psychology is housed in the College of Education and is currently ranked in the top-5 doctoral programs in educational psychology in the nation. The department consists of four divisions – Cognitive Science of Teaching and Learning (CSTL), Developmental Sciences, Counseling Psychology, and Quantitative, Qualitative, and Evaluation Methodologies (QUERIES). Faculty and students historically collaborate across divisions and across departments within the College of Education and across campus, including the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology. Candidates with a strong track record of collaborative research will also be prioritized.

Minimum qualifications: Earned Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, Learning Sciences, Psychology, Cognitive Science, or related field. Strong record (or promise) of research and external funding. Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the learning sciences, language development, language processing, reading/literacy. Candidates at the assistant professor level must have an earned doctorate by the proposed start date. Desired qualifications: Experience with eye-tracking, EEG; ability to teach courses in cognitive aging/adult development, basic or advanced quantitative methods; interest in educational technology, information processing in multimedia environments; track record of graduate student advising and research direction (candidates at the advanced assistant or associate level).

Salary and Starting Date: Salary will be commensurate with experience. The proposed starting date is August 16, 2023.
