Job Description:
i. Preparing an annual academic plan that involves designing and developing academic calendars, prospectus, daily routines of the GCE A level, planning and conduction of unit tests and term or mock examinations ensuring that all examinations are conducted in a free and fair manner.
ii. Formulating strategies and the plan of action for efficient operation and management of the A Level programme and carrying out the required responsibility and duties of Examination Head of the CIE Exam Series.
iii. Personnel management includes job planning, delegation of duties assisting the management in the recruitment of faculty members and supporting staff, providing them orientation, monitoring as well as evaluating their performance.
iv. Administering and supervising the day-to-day functions related to the programme.
v. Correspondence and communication with CAIE Officials, administrative staff, academic colleagues, parents and students following direct consultation with immediate supervisor i.e. College Head.
vi. Document the academic progress of the students. If needed, arrange for remedial classes after consultation with the concerned students and their parents.
vii. Ensure that the students are punctual for the classes; activities etc. and also motivate them to converse and communicate in English.
viii. Prepare a schedule to thoroughly check the lesson plan of the teachers at regular intervals and also schedule periodical class observation of the teachers at least once per term (3 times a year).
ix. With the input of teachers, endeavor to identify students with early signs of psycho-social problems, career guidance related issues and discuss the same with the College Head, respective psycho-social, career and guidance counsellor and communicate the same to the parents. Promote BridgeU – A counselling Platform by closely coordinating with the Career and Guidance Counsellor and students.
x. Conduct performance evaluation of teachers on a periodic basis and provide detailed review of the same, and wherever required, issue written memos indicating areas for correction and record it for follow up.
xi. Planning for extra or co-curricular activities including the arrangement of community services for the A level students with the ECA Coordinator and overseeing its proper implementation by delegated staff, and assigning and monitoring the support service to the students who seek sessions from career & guidance counsellor and psycho-social counsellor.
xii. Maintaining high standards of discipline among all students and developing cordial relationships with all staff members.
xiii. Liaising with the Curriculum Development Centre and CAIE Officials and updating relevant information in a timely manner.
xiv. Assisting the College Head in order to develop, improve and uplift the overall academic standard of the high school in all other programmes related to GEMS School.
xv. Preparing reports, presentations and statistical data for internal and external use.
xvi. Implementing the plan of action and/ or acting on the directives received from the Founder Director or Senior officials from time to time.
xvii. Making monthly reports of academically low performing students and arranging for a parent/guardian meeting with concerned faculty member(s) and submitting the narrative report to the immediate supervisor.
xviii. Conducting monthly meetings with subject teachers, class representatives separately and preparing a minute on the agenda and decisions made thereof and submit the scanned report to the immediate supervisor by the last Friday of the month.
