Job Description
The Preschool Director/Center Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and administration of the preschool. This includes managing staff, developing and implementing curriculum, ensuring compliance with state and local regulations, fostering a safe and nurturing environment for children, and building relationships with parents and the community. The Preschool Director ensures that the preschool meets its educational goals and maintains a high standard of care and education for all students.
Role & responsibilities
- Leadership and Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the preschool, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized environment.
- Lead, supervise, and support preschool staff, including teachers, assistants, and administrative personnel.
- Manage staff schedules, conduct performance evaluations, and provide professional development opportunities.
- Ensure that the preschool meets all licensing requirements and adheres to state and local regulations.
- Curriculum Development and Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate curriculum that meets educational standards and promotes the development of each child.
- Collaborate with teachers to design lesson plans that align with the preschool’s philosophy and goals.
- Monitor the effectiveness of educational programs and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
- Parent and Community Engagement:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, addressing concerns and providing regular updates on children’s progress.
- Organize and lead parent-teacher conferences, workshops, and other events to engage parents in their children’s education.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with the local community, including potential partners and stakeholders.
- Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the preschool’s budget, including overseeing tuition collection, payroll, and expenses.
- Ensure that the preschool operates within its financial means and meets enrollment targets.
- Identify opportunities for fundraising and securing additional resources to support the preschool’s programs.
- Health and Safety:
- Ensure the preschool complies with all health and safety regulations, including those related to food, sanitation, and emergency procedures.
- Implement policies and procedures to ensure the well-being of all children and staff.
- Conduct regular safety drills and ensure that staff are trained in emergency response procedures.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in early childhood education, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of child development and early education best practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage budgets, staffing, and resources effectively.
- Knowledge of state and local regulations governing preschool operations.
Work Environment:
- This role is based in a preschool setting, requiring regular interaction with children, staff, and parents.
- The Preschool Director/Center Manager may need to work outside of regular hours for events, meetings, or emergencies.
Reports To:
- The Preschool Director/Center Manager reports directly to the Board of Directors or the Owner of the preschool.
