ROLE PURPOSE:
- The overall objective of the Educator is to ensure, the implementation of activities related to the community and the involvement of community, within the frame of the project.
- To ensure learning support to children of age 6-14 years, in the community to inculcate basic knowledge about reading, writing, math and life skills.
- The Educator and community mobilizer will work together as a team.
- The educator will be accountable for instructing pupils and promoting the growth of their learning. An educator’s responsibilities include to roll out and creating interesting activities, lesson plans, and learning materials, as well as leading student discussions.
- The Educator will build relationship between YWCA of Delhi and the community. She will ensure functioning of Community based organisations (SHG, Children Group, Youth Group, Balwadi and REC).
- Raise awareness about the program in the community.
- Ensure community participation.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of local language is mandatory with sound knowledge of English, Science & Maths.
- Willing to spend time with the local communities and work in challenging field conditions.
- Based at the project locations but requires frequent field visit.
- Work closely with the team.
- Ensuring formation and functioning of CBOs.
- Conducting Group meetings.
- Implementation and reporting of planned activities
- Community engagement and advocacy
- Hold classes for basic English, Hindi, reading, writing and arithmetic, science.
- Collecting fee from students, prepare details & deposit it, keeping record of students who have enrolled for the classes, taking their attendance
- To take meeting with parents of the students once in a month.
- Promoting community awareness and involvement in important issues affecting the community
- Coordinating community outreach efforts such as clean-ups drives, health fairs, SHG mela etc.
- Coordinating community programs such as youth sports leagues, senior citizen activities, afterschool programs, etc.
- Stakeholder Management.
- Participating in community planning
- Developing and implementing educational programs designed to improve knowledge about specific topics or issues within the community
- support children’s wellbeing, learning and development.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate, preferably graduate in social work/education/sociology/English/Early childhood care and education.
- Adequate work experience.
- Documentation Skills (Enrolling students, Student Registration, Attendance Maintaining registers /Recording meetings documentation of impact and success stories.etc)
- Monitoring for the functioning of groups.
- Meeting local groups and individuals to explore their educational needs.
- Conducting regular classes.
- Ensuring basic foundational skills in all children.
- Roll out curriculum.
- Conduct Survey
- Undertaking outreach work to encourage more people to participate
