Our Team

The Engineering team at Whatfix provides end to end engineering throughput that forms part of core platforms and services that drive Whatfix business.

Our team is responsible for creating the Customer Platform and everything around it – be it Analytics, Infrastructure or Core Algorithms. The team owns and is responsible for all pieces that we design, build and support end to end for Whatfix product/ business.

On a monthly basis, millions of interactive guides are processed. Building, testing, and deploying to any of our environments are as simple as pushing a commit to a git branch. We like to keep our technology up-to-date. All of the technology is built and maintained by this small development team, so from day 1, the software you write will be used by people from all over the world.

Your Opportunity

As part of the Core Engineering Team @Whatfix, you’ll have the opportunity to make a difference by heading a development team that builds future-forward products. At Whatfix it’s all about scale. One of the key attributes of this job is that you are required to continuously innovate and apply technology to provide business 360 views of Whatfix customers.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the Cloud Infrastructure team (including DevOps and SRE), supporting the developer experience at Whatfix
• Drive company-wide platform initiatives such migration from monolith to microservices, migration towards modern orchestration frameworks like Kubernetes, striving towards continuous technical excellence of our platform
• Responsible for release management (Build and release) and incident management.
• Responsible for Cloud Infrastructure uptime, reliability and scale. Own Test infrastructure for reliability and performance of the system.
• Develop scripts to automate DevOps functions, , source code checking with continuous integration, automated test tool configuration, application topology configuration, automated deployment and proactive environment monitoring & management
• You will devise and communicate top-level objectives and measures of success to guide your teams, challenge them, and hold them accountable. By doing this right, they will love you for it.
• As an Engineering Manager, you will always be recruiting, retaining and adjusting. Keeping your team at the top of their game and motivated is one of your many working threads.
• Work with other engineering teams in building high-quality and highly resilient scalable products and platforms at Whatfix
• Work with cross-functional teams to address all technical dependencies
• Drive some of the company-wide tech initiatives striving towards continuous technical excellence of our platforms

Who You Are

You have a deep interest and passion for technology. You love writing and owning code and enjoy working with people who will keep challenging you at every stage. You have strong problem solving, analytic, decision-making and excellent communication with interpersonal skills. You are self-driven and motivated with the desire to work in a fast-paced, results-driven agile environment with varied responsibilities.

Your Qualifications:

1. 10+ years of experience in product development and platform
2. A commitment to improving the overall reliability of Whatfix’s offerings through the application of Software Engineering techniques
3. 3+ years experience in public cloud environments – Azure
4. Strong hands on experience on Cloud Ops (Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform. IaC, K8S, Azure/AWS, Load Balancers), SecOps. Release Management, Cloud cost management, Distributed architecture design and implementation based on Java based micro services
5. Strong experience with Kubernetes-based infrastructures.
6. Experience with SCM tools like GitHub, BitBucket etc
7. A proven track record of supporting internal customers
8. Expertise in Designing for performance, scalability, fault tolerance and high availability
9. Experience working with products in Core Java, Server side frameworks such as REST (Spring/SpringBoot) and Web applications.
10. Have built infrastructure to detect problems, monitor health and performance of servers
11. Strong experience with open source infrastructure components like Cassandra, HDFS, ELK, Kafka etc.
