Position: Vice Chancellor
Institutional Context
A leading deemed-to-be university with a 40+ year legacy of excellence
As Vice Chancellor, you will serve as the chief academic, executive, and strategic leader—driving transformative growth, elevating national/international rankings, amplifying research impact, and cementing the institution as a preferred destination for talent, innovation, and societal contribution.
Core Transformative Responsibilities
– Strategic Vision & Institutional Elevation
Architect and implement a bold 5–10 year roadmap to position the university among India’s top private/deemed institutions and achieve global recognition in select domains (medicine, sports science, biotechnology, ed-tech). Target measurable leaps in NIRF, QS Asia, THE rankings, and accreditations through data-driven KPIs.
– Academic & Curricular Innovation
Lead multidisciplinary program expansion, NEP-aligned reforms (including credit frameworks, multiple entry/exit, skill integration), and launch of futuristic offerings in AI-healthcare, sports analytics, sustainable design, and online/hybrid models. Ensure outcome-based education (OBE) excellence to sustain Platinum Band status and drive 20–30% annual improvement in student learning outcomes and employability metrics.
– Research & Innovation Ecosystem
Build a high-output research culture: establish/scale Centres of Excellence in priority areas (e.g., regenerative medicine, bioinformatics, sports performance), secure ₹50+ crore in external grants annually, triple patent filings and high-impact publications, and foster faculty-student-industry research consortia. Champion entrepreneurship through incubators, startup support, and IP commercialization.
– Talent Leadership & Faculty Empowerment
Recruit and retain 200+ world-class faculty/researchers over the next phase; design aggressive professional development, mentorship, and incentive frameworks to boost research productivity and teaching innovation. Cultivate a performance-oriented, inclusive culture that rewards excellence while addressing workload and well-being.
– Financial Sustainability & Resource Optimization
Drive diversified revenue streams (international programs, executive education, consultancy, alumni endowments, industry-sponsored research) to achieve 25–30% CAGR in non-tuition income. Prepare and steward multi-year budgets ensuring infrastructure upgrades, digital transformation, and sustainability initiatives without compromising academic quality.
– Industry & Global Partnerships
Strengthen alliances with top global universities, corporates, hospitals, sports bodies, and government entities. Expand dual-degree, semester-abroad, and joint research programs; leverage the university’s unique sports-healthcare-education nexus for signature collaborations (e.g., with FIFA affiliates, IPL franchises, edX/MIT-inspired platforms).
– Student-Centric Transformation
Achieve 95%+ placement rates with premium packages; scale experiential learning, internships, entrepreneurship cells, and holistic development (sports leagues, cultural initiatives, mental health support). Build lifelong alumni engagement to create a powerful global network for mentorship, placements, and philanthropy.
– Governance, Compliance & Institutional Culture
Chair statutory bodies with transparency and agility; ensure full adherence to UGC, AICTE, NAAC, and other regulations while advocating for progressive policies in private higher education. Foster an innovative, equitable, and values-driven culture rooted in the founder’s ethos of holistic development and societal impact.
– Brand & External Leadership
Elevate institutional visibility through thought leadership, high-profile events, media presence, and digital storytelling. Position the university as a beacon for transformative education that blends academic rigor, industry relevance, and global citizenship.
Profile of the Ideal Leader
– Ph.D. holder with outstanding scholarly credentials (high-impact publications, funded projects, patents) and national/international recognition.
– 10–15+ years in progressive higher education leadership (Professor + Dean/Director/Pro-VC/Vice Chancellor level), preferably in private/deemed universities with multidisciplinary portfolios.
– Proven track record of institutional turnaround/growth: improved rankings, accreditations, research metrics, enrollment, placements, and financial health.
– Entrepreneurial mindset combined with academic depth; adept at stakeholder management (regulators, industry, alumni, philanthropists).
– Exceptional strategic, communication, and change-management abilities; resilient under complexity with unwavering commitment to equity, excellence, and student-first principles.
This is a rare opportunity to lead a high-potential institution at an inflection point—transforming legacy strengths into future-defining impact.
