Role Summary

This role will develop the University student recruitment activity in India. Incumbent will help build successful working relationships with key partners and stakeholders in India such as schools; colleges; the British Council, alumni and graduate employers in order to increase recruitment of the best prospective students from India to Imperial College London. The role will involve the building of new recruitment partnerships and delivering strategies for student recruitment in order to ensure the highest quality applicants make Imperial their first choice destination.

Roles & Responsibilities

You will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of the University’s marketing and recruitment activities in India. You will be a self-motivator, able to work effectively on your own as well as being comfortable working as part of a team. You will assist in maintain relationships with key stakeholder relationships including the University’s official education advisers, alumni, school counsellors and India-based UK organisations including the British Council. This post will involve significant travel within India.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all related University information including entry requirements, programme details, application processes, fees, scholarships, teaching methods, accommodation and student facilities. Providing accurate information and advice on this to all enquirers.
  • Deliver professional guidance on processes and procedures to clients and customers both internal and external to university. Using sound judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate and ensuring complex issues are understood.
  • Organise and undertake recruitment visits across India. This will include representing the University at exhibitions, educational institutions, pre-departure briefings with other stakeholders.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of recruitment activities undertaken to inform future activity and strategy.
  • Advise prospective international students on their applications to the University.
  • Investigate and analyse specific issues and data to inform strategy decisions, establish basic trends and patterns in recruitment data and create reports as appropriate
  • Follow up on leads generated from marketing campaigns and exhibition attendance by phone and email. Identifying enquirers needs and providing the appropriate guidance.
  • Manage and maintain various WhatsApp groups to ensure timely communication with offer holders assisting with their pre-departure queries and sourcing information that may be of interest to promote through these channels.
  • Assist the Senior International Officer – South Asia in developing online marketing content, particularly in the use of social media activities.
  • Assist in the organisation and management of incoming high-level delegations from University to India.
  • For student recruitment activity, assist in the developing and supporting alumni networks in India.

Essential Criteria

  • A first degree preferably from a UK University and at least 10 year’s work experience.
  • Experience of working in a marketing and customer focused environment
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure with proven organisation skills.
  • Ability to communicate conceptually detailed and complex information effectively with a wide range of people both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to work well within a team to achieve University objectives, but also to work independently when working away from the office.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the UK, especially the UK’s Higher Education Sector
  • Evidence of having high levels of motivation, flexibility and being target orientated
  • Significant administrative experience including the use of IT.
  • Highly motivated with a flexible approach to work.

Desirable Criteria

  • Alumnus of a Russell Group University or Imperial College (preferred)
  • Experience of working for Russell Group University with focus on student recruitment.
  • Familiarity with UK Higher Education system.
  • Degree or work experience in marketing.
