DataForce by TransPerfect is looking for idiomatic fluency of Marathi or Gujarati talents with linguistics and transcription experience to join us as Language Expert. The objective of the role is to collaborate in building cutting edge technologies by using techniques like Speech to Text, Text to Speech, etc., to improve Indic language interpretation algorithms.

Role Summary

The Language Expert will be in charge of transcribing, annotating and verifying speech audios, transcribing audios word-by-word into text, verify transcriptions/annotations of audios, and perform other related tasks. You will:

• Write language specification documents (TN patterns, ITN patterns, profanity lists, etc.)
• Create Text Normalization (TN) and Inverse Text Normalization (ITN) rules on given tools
• Create/select test sets for Speech Services (STT/TTS) and modules: Test sets may include human language scripts, voice recordings, TN/ITN test cases, etc.
• Analyze test results and propose corrections 
• Assess quality of existent corpora (Transcriptions, voice recording, transliteration dictionaries, pronunciation lexicons, etc.)

• Have idiomatic fluency in written and spoken Marathi or Gujarati
• Fluency in English
• Have experience with Phonetics (IPA), Transcription or Annotation tasks
• Be versed in Text Transliteration and verification of transliteration mappings
• Have basic knowledge of word editors, audio tools- (e.g., Audacity)
• Be able to summarize and communicate the task outputs/analyses clearly and succinctly over email and call

Preferred Role Requirements

Education

• Preferred Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English Literature

Additional Skillsets

• Knowledge of 2nd Indian language is desirable – Hindi or Tamil
• Knowledge of 3rd Indian language is desirable
• Knowledge of regular expressions (RegEx) and how to use them
• Some experience building rules and algorithms to be relevant for TN/ITN rules and phone sequence mappings
• Knowledge of you native language accent in various dialects
