Title: English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teacher

Job Purpose:
English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teachers provide identified students with additional instruction and support in order for them to increase their proficiency in English listening, speaking, reading and writing for academic success.
Responsibilities:
• Support the Mission and Vision of the school.
• Take all necessary measures to safeguard students and promote the health and safety of the school community.
• Follow Code of Conduct and published policies of the school.
• Act in a professional manner in terms of dress, appearance and approach to work.
• Uphold the school’s behaviour management policy.
• Maintain a purposeful and effective atmosphere within the classroom and other learning areas.
• Take responsibility for professional and personal development.
• Attend team, staff, whole school and other meetings and events as appropriate, contributing positively whenever possible.
• Work in a collaborative environment with the EAL teaching team regarding all facets of providing EAL classroom learning that is aligned for building language skills that promote academic success.
Main Duties:
Teaching and Learning
• Provide EAL classroom instruction as well as, push in and pull- out instruction to students as assigned across the school.
• Develop English language support plans for students served by the EAL programme.
• Deliver EAL lessons in a comprehensive manner, in accordance to the timetable provided by the Line Manager.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and teaching strategies to meet different aptitude and interests of students, including whole class, small group or individual learning.
• Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and achievement.
• Report regularly on the development of students they work with under the EAL programme.
• Meet with teachers, parents and support staff in order to develop English language support plans and report on student progress.
• Work with teachers to support differentiated instruction and collaborate regarding learning needs of the student.
• Administer language proficiency and academic achievement tests for both determining student placement, and for ongoing monitoring of student progress.
Team Support
• Cover for absent colleagues across the school where necessary.
• Contribute to the school’s enrichment programme (clubs and extramural activities) with all grade levels.
• Supervise students, as required, before school, during recesses, during dismissal and on assigned field trips.
Requirements
Minimum Academic Degree required
• Bachelor’s degree or above in subject related major
• Teaching license Professional Experience and Skills
• Excellent classroom management skills
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines
• Deep understanding of how to effectively teach a range of curriculums
• Experience in using technology to enhance learning
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills
• Strong moral values and discipline
• A patient and resilient personality
• Dedication to students and education
Experience
• At least 2 years of experience as English Language Teacher.
• Cross-culture working experience in an international school is an advantage.
IT Skills
• Microsoft Office and knowledge of relevant software.
• Mac OS

Requirements
