About This Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Research Manager/Senior Genetic Counsellor to provide specialised project management and research management skills to lead the development of clinical accreditation guidelines for polygenic risk (PGS) in Australian diagnostic settings, a study funded by an Australian Genomics Implementation Project Grant.
The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of research governance and ethics compliance, reporting on the project, and drafting protocols and guidelines. They will participate in collaborative multi-disciplinary research activities with internal and external collaborators, particularly with national laboratories, the professions accreditation bodies (e.g., NATA and TGA), clinicians and colleagues in Integrating Genomics into Medicine’s (IGM) group. As a member of the team, the successful candidate will also provide genetic counselling related activities for the group, including consultations for familial melanoma and provision of PGS to research participants.

About You
- PhD in genomics or genetic counselling related field.
- Appropriate qualification and professional accreditation and experience as a senior genetic counsellor (MSc in Genetic Counselling and FHGSA certification).
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge of clinical genetics and genetic counselling, including clinical practice, genetic health conditions, and service provision.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience of working in clinical genetics laboratories, including knowledge of regulatory and accreditation guidelines.
- Solid, relevant experience in project management.
- Highly desirable, experience conducting mixed-method research including qualitative studies.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, execute, complete, and publish research studies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and flexibly as well as autonomously, in small teams and with a wide range of varying stakeholders.
- Strong focus on quality of work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
What We Can Offer
This is a part-time (40%), fixed-term position through to 1 March 2024 at HEW level 8.
The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $102,270 – $114,835 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $119,656 – $134, 357 per annum.
