About Fix-it Café:
Fix-it Cafe is a 24-week practical repair and engineering program for young people in Grades 6 to 10 across Raichur schools. The program teaches electrical, plumbing, mechanical and AI-guided repair skills. It is delivered in schools by a dedicated Fix-it Cafe field team reporting to the CEO.
About the Role:
ü Language – Fluent spoken Kannada is required for all sessions in Raichur. This is the language of the classroom and the community. Excellent written English is non-negotiable.
ü Repair, Engineering and Technical Skills – This role requires genuine, practical hands-on skills. The team member must be able to safely strip and rewire a plug, identify a fault in a basic electrical circuit, replace a fuse, fix a leaking tap or pipe joint, repair a broken hinge or latch, identify what is wrong with a non-functioning household appliance and, where safe and possible, fix it.
ü AI and Technology Repair – They must understand basic tool safety and be able to teach it. They must be comfortable using AI tools to guide a repair process, including using guided AI to understand how something works before taking it apart. They do not need to be a fully qualified electrician or plumber, but they must have real, demonstrated experience doing these things, not just theoretical knowledge.
ü Teaching and Communication – Able to explain repair processes step by step, clearly and safely, to mixed groups of girls and boys in Grades 6 to 10. Patient, energetic and safety-conscious in every session. Able to manage a room where young people are using tools.
ü Reporting and Documentation – Able to write clear, accurate daily field reports in English. Disciplined about documentation even at the end of a full day of practical teaching.
ü Field Commitment – This role is entirely school and community based in Raichur. There is no remote or work from home option under any circumstance. The team member must be present in schools and communities 6 days a week, on time, every day, for the full duration of the program.
