JobSummary:
The IB EYP HomeroomTeacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessingthe educational and developmental needs of young children in theEarly Years Programme of an IB school. They create a stimulatingand inclusive classroom environment that encourages inquiry,exploration, and holisticdevelopment.
KeyResponsibilities:
  1. CurriculumPlanning andImplementation:
  • Developand deliver developmentally appropriate lessons and activities inline with the IB EYP curriculumframework.
  • Foster inquiry-based learning andencourage curiosity and exploration amongstudents.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet thediverse needs of students in theclassroom.
  1. ClassroomManagement:
  • Establisha positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feelsafe, valued, and respected.
  • Manage classroombehaviour effectively using positive reinforcement and behaviourmanagement strategies suitable for youngchildren.
  1. Assessmentand ProgressMonitoring:
  • Regularlyassess and document student progress anddevelopment.
  • Provide feedback to students andparents through written reports andconferences.
  • Collaborate with colleagues toanalyze student data and adjust instructional strategiesaccordingly.
  1. ParentCommunication:
  • Maintainopen and proactive communication with parents andguardians.
  • Organize and conduct parent-teacherconferences to discuss students’ academic and socialprogress.
  • Share information about the IB EYPprogram and encourage parentalinvolvement.
  1. ProfessionalDevelopment:
  • Stayinformed about the latest trends and best practices in earlychildhood education and IBprograms.
  • Participate in professionaldevelopment activities and workshops to enhance teachingskills.
  1. CulturalSensitivity:
  • Promotea culturally inclusive and diverse classroom environment,respecting and celebrating different cultural backgrounds andperspectives.
  1. HealthandSafety:
  • Ensurethe safety and well-being of students at all times, includingduring outdoor activities and fieldtrips.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulationsandprotocols.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’sdegree in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a relatedfield
  • Teachingcertification or credentials for early childhoodeducation.
  • Familiaritywith the IB EYP curriculum andphilosophy.
  • Experience workingwith young children in a classroomsetting.
  • Strong understanding of childdevelopment principles and best practices in early childhoodeducation.
  • Effective communication andinterpersonal skills.
  • Patience, creativity, anda passion for working with younglearners.
  • Fluency in English and proficiency inadditional languages may be a plus in an international IB schoolcontext.
