The Counsellor will work with cases of GBV from the Gender Resource Center.
They must demonstrate specialized knowledge and possess expertise in the specific issues that a woman may face, and know how to deal with them in the most effective manner. They must possess Knowledge of psychological theory and practice, an ability to empathize and relate to with a range of people, good team working skills, excellent communication skills, demonstrate sensitive listening and questioning skills.
The Counsellor reports to Coordinator Counselling will take inputs from the Program Director in the intervention of complicated cases.
JOB LOCATION: SPGRC Elphinstone road, Prabhadevi, Mumbai
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work package 1: Psycho social interventions
Providing psycho-social interventions to women facing domestic violence, intimate partner violence, attending to clients and working with clinical psychologists, lawyers and police and Psychiatrists when women with different conditions approach the center or contact on the Helpline number.
Work package 2: Training and awareness in the community.
Coordination with different communities and organizing sessions with the community so that women surviving violence approach the SPGRC for help.
Make home visits and conduct joint meetings with the partner, family and relatives of the survivor of violence. Work package 3: Working with LGBTQI through (1) outreach workshops with LGBT groups and (2) specialised counselling intervention for this group.
Work package 4: Documentation and reporting
Maintaining accounts and keeping records of a client’s progress and submitting the client data on a monthly basis.
Maintain documentation required in the project; preparation of tables and charts in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Commcare will be used for all the work related data.
Make analysis of the client records and discuss the emerging trends in case sharing and review meetings.
Participation and contribution to the other activity

MANAGEMENT & REPORTING:
Effective coordination with team members: setting clear expectations, tracking progress of the survivors with the help of the tools that are used by the counselling team.
Ability to collaborate with different stakeholders in the field.
Work according to the ethical standards of the project and the organization.
Networking and coordination with facilities supporting for therapy and treatment
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Educational qualification: Master’s Degree in Counselling, Social Work.
At least 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
Experience of working in a community setting/ health is preferred.
Experience of working in sector of gender, gender-based violence will be an advantage
Effective training skills; excellent communication skills and documentation.
Well-versed in data management; data collection; MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Oral and written command of English and Hindi and Marathi (preferable)
Skills & Competencies:
Strong skills of testing, assessment and therapy
Skills in working on women centric issues
Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to be humble is required
Understanding the woman from her culture of marginalized urban settlements will be important
Team work with the Coordinators, other Counselors and Clinical Psychologist of the program.
