Teaching: Your main duty is to develop and deliver lectures, seminars, and laboratory sessions to educate and train PA students. You will cover various topics such as anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, clinical skills, medical ethics, and other relevant subjects. You’ll design curriculum, create lesson plans, and assess student performance.

Mentoring and Advising: You will serve as a mentor and advisor to PA students, providing guidance on their academic progress, clinical rotations, and career development. You may supervise students during clinical experiences and help them integrate their theoretical knowledge with practical skills.

Research and Scholarly Activity: Engaging in scholarly research and contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of physician assistant studies is often expected. You may be involved in conducting research studies, publishing scholarly articles, and presenting at conferences to stay current with the latest developments in PA education and practice.

Program Development and Evaluation: You may be involved in developing, reviewing, and updating the curriculum and program policies to ensure they align with national accreditation standards and meet the evolving needs of the healthcare industry. Collaborating with other faculty members to assess the effectiveness of the program and making recommendations for improvements is also common.

Service and Collaboration: Assistant Professors often contribute to service activities within the academic institution, such as serving on committees, participating in faculty meetings, and engaging in community outreach initiatives. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals and organizations may also be encouraged to foster interprofessional education and practice.

Continued Professional Development: It is essential to stay updated with the latest medical advancements, teaching methodologies, and changes in PA practice. Continuing education, attending professional conferences, and maintaining your own clinical skills are important aspects of professional growth.

Compliance and Ethics: Upholding ethical standards in teaching, research, and clinical practice is crucial. You are expected to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, maintain student confidentiality, and adhere to the professional standards set by relevant accrediting bodies and organizations.
