Six Red Marbles Hiring For Supervising Editor, Humanities at India Full Time

The Supervising Editor (SE) is an experienced editor and reviewer who can serve as an editorial project lead for print and digital projects in the US K–12 educational publishing sector. The SE will participate in the development of project guidelines and acceptance criteria, serve as the primary editorial contact for project stakeholders, edit and review work of writers and editors, ensure timely deliverables, and problem-solve issues that arise during editorial development.

Job Duties:

• Serve as main point of contact for US Editorial and occasionally clients.
• Interpret or create project guidelines and communicate acceptance criteria to internal editorial team and freelancers.
• Review deliverables for adherence to guidelines, formatting, accuracy, content, conventions of American English, and overall quality.
• Be accountable for a final QC before project deliverables are transmitted to US Content Leads or clients.
• Communicate US Editorial and client feedback to writing teams, give constructive editorial feedback, answer questions, and provide guidance to writers and editors with the goal of improving quality and building team capacity.
• Work with Project Management to assure timely deliverables.
• Report project status and needs to India Editorial Director.

Desired Qualifications & Skills:

• Demonstrated experience working with educational publishing workflows and developing US educational content for a publisher or vendor
• Knowledge of K–12 US assessment and instruction best practices
• Some knowledge of K–12 US humanities content (English/language arts, social studies, history) and educational standards (CCSS)
• Excellent understanding of written American English language conventions and grammar
• Proven ability to manage editorial projects and project-based teams
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate clearly and comfortably with US colleagues and clients, India editorial staff, and managers
• Able to give and receive editorial feedback, ask necessary questions, and make editorial judgment calls with minimal supervision
• Self-directed, organized, and willing to take ownership of project quality and success
• Flexible and adaptable to changing project needs and priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn commonly used US publishing software and communications platforms, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint), Adobe Acrobat, and CMS/LMS as required by clients.
• Study at a US university and/or experience working with US-based companies a plus
• Teaching experience a plus
