A curriculum coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing the curriculum
used. He/she may also be tasked with evaluating existing curricula to ensure they meet
students’ needs. This might include reviewing student performance data, conducting focus
groups with students and parents, or observing classroom instruction to identify
improvements. Create lesson plans that prepare students for skill-building, careers in a
global economy and technological world. Curriculum coordinators will be needed to help
teachers incorporate real-world applications into their lesson plans.
Qualification:
• A master’s degree is often a minimum requirement to become a curriculum
coordinator. A master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, education, or a related
field is a requirement for this role
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a facilitator teaching in a similar board along
with 5 years of experience as a Curriculum Coordinator in an American School

Curriculum Coordinator Job Duties
Curriculum coordinators have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
• Having an understanding of the pedagogical approach of the 21K School and aligning
them to common core standards as required
• Exploring a series of state education standards, textbooks, and teaching strategies
and set learning objectives for each course Kindergarten– Grade 10 (ELA, Math,
Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Art, and other subjects)
• Aligning the curriculum with state and national standards, as well as the specific
needs
• Designing a detailed educational curriculum, including topics, dates, the number of
hours required per course, and ensuring adherence to US state and local standards
• Creating materials that are both effective and aligned with Common Core Standards
with greater emphasis on STEM Education and PBL pedagogy
• Determining evaluation criteria and set up formal and informal assessments to gauge
the effectiveness of the curriculum
• Creating ILP for special needs students
• Overseeing the development of new curricula
• Conducting teacher evaluations based on lesson plans and student progress reports
• Providing support and guidance to teachers regarding lesson planning and best
practices in the classroom
• Coordinating activities with other staff members, including counsellors, and the
Principal
• Working with all levels of education, from preschool to Grade 10. Have a strong
understanding of educational theory and practice, as well as knowledge of current
trends in education.
• Overseeing assessments and analyzing the results of the assessments
• Communicating ideas and vision to others.
• Working well under pressure and meeting deadlines.

Curriculum coordinators need the following skills to be successful:
Communication: Responsible for communicating with a variety of individuals, including faculty, students, parents and administrators. Convey important information to others and ensure that everyone involved in the development of a curriculum is on the same page.
Organization: Responsible for creating lesson plans, organizing training sessions, and maintaining records. Complete tasks on time.
Time management: Coordinate the schedules of other crew members and ensure that all of their duties are completed on time. Work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Teaching: Have strong teaching skills, including the ability to instruct students and develop lesson plans. Develop training materials for teachers and other staff members.
