Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Consult and support classroom teachers with implementing school-wide behavior supports.
- Collaborate with teachers, school wide, and assist in lesson planning that may support generalization or acquisition of specific therapy related skills in their classrooms.
- Support the special educator in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student (related to social/ emotional skills).
- Design child-specific behavior intervention plans in collaboration with relevant team members.
- Implement IEPs, assess students performance, and track their progress.
- Update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students progress and goals.
- Proactively communicate with parents, and respond to their queries promptly.
- Discuss student’s progress with parents, teachers, special educators, and administrators.
- Meeting with parents as and when needed to support with behaviors at home.
- Supervise and mentor shadow teachers who work with students.
- Fulfill all PD requirements, including workshops, book clubs, online courses, etc.
- Attend all PLCs spaces i.e. collaborative meetings within department or school as required.
Required Certification/s:
Masters degree in Counselling
Required Skills:
Experience teaching students with special needs is appreciated
English language proficiency
Openness and willingness to learn
