EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANT: ENGLISH AS AN ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT Saskatoon Public Schools requires an Educational Consultant: English as an Additional Language, effective August 25, 2022 – June 30, 2026

This is a full-time position

The successful applicant will report directly to the Coordinator: Learning Supports – English as an Additional Language

Primary responsibilities include the following:develop, research, and administer appropriate language assessment tools, both formal and informal

lead Newcomer Student Centre processes – intake data collection, scheduling and orientation of additional assessors, communication with schools, and reporting to the Ministry

verification of eligibility of all non-Canadian students, tracking student’ eligibility and notifying schools when students lose eligibility

collaborates with the International Tuition Payer program to assist with the response to inquiries, verify documentation and facilitate school registration processes

work collaboratively with Coordinator: Learning Supports – EAL to support students, families, EAL teachers and school staff with resources and information

The ideal candidate will possess:successful EAL teaching experience a valid Saskatchewan teaching certificate at least 18 credit units in TESL/second language teaching from a recognized post-secondary institution preference will be given to candidates who have initiated or completed a graduate level program in a related field extensive knowledge and experience in second language assessment practices familiarity and experience with various assessment tools, both formal and informal flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships Preference will be given to candidates who have initiated or completed a graduate level program in a related field
