About Rocket Learning
Rocket Learning is a high growth ed-tech non-profit with the mission of catalyzing early childhood education and community engagement in India. We link the government system’s teachers and daycare workers with parents and communities, using technology, media and social influence techniques. Rocket Learning is partnering at scale with state governments in Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Delhi and UP to impact 900,000+ 3–8 year-old children in 60,000+ schools and anganwadis. The average child in a Rocket Learning cohort attains skills at the top third of a non-RL class at the cost of 50c/child/year, and the model is the subject of an ongoing RCT by MIT-JPAL.
Established by an experienced founding group (IIT, IIM, HBS, Rochester, McKinsey/BCG, start-up alumni) and Board, Rocket Learning is part of the Indian government’s Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Taskforce and UNICEF’s working group for Foundational Learning. Our innovations in promoting early learning have been profiled in Harvard Business School, UNESCO and Forbes case studies, researched by MIT JPAL and Brookings, and awarded by MIT Solve, DRK Foundation and the World Economic Forum. Rocket Learning partners with/ is funded by India’s Ministry of WCD, Ministry of Education (NCERT), MIT-JPAL, DRK Foundation, Central Square Foundation, Harvard University, Microsoft, Accel Partners and ACT Grants
The problem : 85% of a child’s brain develops before the age of 8; so the >150 mn 3-8 year old children in India who do not have access to quality education, are losing out before they even get to the 3rd grade. Parent child engagement for early childhood stimulation is critical and this too is missing in low-income families.
The solution : Our product provides locally contextualized, bite sized and gamified learning for 3-8 year olds kids and their parents and teachers – driving aspiration, information and motivation – all of which are key to increased caregiver-child engagement and sustained learning. We are technology driven and backed by government systems.
