The role

Teachers worldwide have trusted us in their classrooms. As a result, we process billions of monthly responses from our students and teachers. This data, which we never intend to sell, will power the next wave of learning experiences. As one of the first few Machine Learning Engineers, you will help us brainstorm and build capabilities that help us understand our demand and supply, discover content, and power differentiated student experiences and continuous feedback loops for teachers, students, and parents. You will be expected to be at ease working with high-scale datasets, learn new technologies across the ML stack, take full ownership, and create business and user impact. You will work alongside talented peers and leverage the latest in AI and Machine Learning across natural language processing, recommendation systems, time series analysis, and computer vision to create compelling learning experiences for our students.

To execute our vision, we must build the best-in-class Machine Learning team. We are looking for ML Engineers at multiple levels to help bootstrap this team and shape the future of Machine Learning at Quizizz.

Your expertise

• You are able to work across the ML stack. Everything from researching models, working with large data sets, training, evaluating, and tuning existing models, creating models from scratch, deploying them at scale, analyzing results to improve outcomes continuously, and presenting to stakeholders across tech and business. We understand that it takes multiple iterations to get something right.
• You are strong in python, especially as it applies to ML. You are comfortable or not afraid to pick technologies like SQL, Cassandra, Kafka, BigQuery, etc., on the fly.
• You have 2+ year of industry experience building and deploying NLP models in multilingual systems.
• You have a solid statistical foundation and mathematical understanding of real-world problems.
• You are able to take abstract requirements and convert them into concrete deliverables for our users and business. You are comfortable exploring green field projects if required.
• You are an excellent communicator. You can explain complex topics in simple languages, so you can help the broader team to understand the impact and inspire people to rally around the ML vision.
• You are able to operate effectively with minimal structure, process, and oversight.

Ideal candidate

• You have 3+ years of industry ML experience, having built and deployed models at scale.
• You have an advanced degree or have done significant coursework in Statistics, Mathematics, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field.
• You have prior experience influencing data and platform improvements to help shape the technology platform that powers ML at scale,
• You have been a founding engineer of ML teams at growing startups and played a key role in building the team.
• You have prior experience with high-level machine learning frameworks such as Tensorflow, AWS Sagemaker, etc.,
