The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health. PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes. The Foundation, established in 2006 as a public private initiative, is governed by an independent board comprising of senior government officials, eminent Indian and International academic and leaders, civil society representatives and corporate leaders.

Project Brief-

The Ramalingaswami Centre on Equity and Social Determinants of Health was set up to advance thinking about equity and the social determinants of health in India via research, teaching/training and policy development. The Centre in Bangalore needs someone with research skills (primary quantitative and qualitative research, literature reviews, proposal and report writing), and the capacity to teach.

Deliverables:
Take responsibility for and contribute actively to the Centre’s research projects, as required.

Develop curricula for and engage in training/teaching programs that build on the core objectives of the Centre in collaboration with other members.

Engage in larger knowledge translation efforts of the Centre, based on research/project experience, including writing policy briefs, case studies, training modules etc.

Any other task assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualification:
Desirable:
PhD in Public Health / Health Sciences / Social Sciences or equivalent qualification

Experience:
Essential

At least 3 years of experience working on issues relating to gender and health. .

Desirable:
More than 5 years of experience working on issues relating to gender and health
