Position Title: Education Specialist
Planet Water is a US-based, non-profit international development organization focused on bringing clean water to the world’s most disadvantaged communities through the installation of community-based water filtration systems and education programs on water-health & hygiene. Our projects are focused on schools, children, and rural communities who lack access to clean, safe water.

- Program Manager (India) – Chaitanya Kusurkar
- VP, Education – Kristen Steele (US)
Location: Pune, India
Key Working Relationships: Internal: Country Program Managers External: Donors, NGO Partners, School Staff, Local Community Members
Position Summary: The Education Specialist will be responsible for implementing and facilitating all of Planet Water’s WASH education programs including: School-based program (Teacher Training and education with students), Community-based education program, and school WASH campaigns across Pan India.
Primary Responsibilities (to include, but not limited to):
- Facilitate Teacher Training on Water-Health & Hygiene education program during AquaTower deployments.
- Conduct Water-Health & Hygiene activities with the students and engage donor’s employee volunteers during AquaTower deployments.
- Facilitate community-based education program during AquaTower deployments with parents and community members at the school.
- Work with school principal and community leaders when applicable to help identify participants for community education program.
- Implement WASH campaign program into designated schools
- Provide additional support and training to school staff as needed, post- teacher training.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent experience in Public Health or Education sector
- Minimum 3 years experience teaching or training in a classroom environment
- Experienced in teaching both children and adult.
- Fluent in English and Hindi
- Able to travel domestically across India to fulfill organisational commitments
- Strong sense of teamwork with the ability to interact collaboratively and enthusiastically with a diverse set of program staff, donor employee volunteers, and NGO partners
- Ability to work independently, and under own initiative
- Meticulous organizational skills
- Flexibility to embrace a range of duties as organization’s needs require
- Desire to work for a non-profit organization committed to making a global impact
