Roles and Responsibilities
PUNCTUALITY:
(a) Teachers are necessarily be well in time for all the activities.
(b) They need to attend the Classes strictly according to the Time Table.
(c) They are required to attend the Relief periods and supervise Co- curricular activities, Prep, Remedial or extra classes etc. as and when assigned by the Head of the school or as directed by her/his superior in officiating capacity.
(d) They need to attend all the Faculty meetings, Staff meetings, Workshops, School Functions, Seminars and PTM, whether held during or after school hours is compulsory for teachers. Relaxation can be sanctioned on medical ground and on extreme unavoidable circumstances under prior intimation/ well in time.
(e) To facilitate administrative arrangements, the vacational staff is required to be on duty on the last working day before the vacation and on the first working day after the vacation. T
Planning and Preparation of Lessons:
(a) Teacher should prepare lessons to be taught well in advance. As such the following preparatory work is essential for all teachers.
(b) As per CBSE guidelines, they should prepare the scheme of work by dividing the years syllabus equally for each term. Term wise scheme should further be divided into weeks.
(c) Prepare detailed weekly lessons for the Scheduled Week according to “Lesson Plan”.
(d) Scheme of work should be submitted to the Principal at the beginning of the Academic Year. In turn, the Principal should endorse the weekly Lesson Plan to the teacher every Saturday or Monday.
(e) They are expected to improvise learning aids and be resourceful enough to make lessons more attractive, effective and meaningful grasping by the students.
Teaching and Evaluation:
(a) Teachers should carefully plan their work every day before presenting it to students. The teachers should complete the necessary syllabus requirements as per the expected level of proficiency.
(b) Teaching should cater for individual learning differences and stimulate thinking and self-learning.
(c) Suitable extra works should be set for brilliant students. Similarly, the weaker students should not be neglected and their special needs must be taken care of.
(d) After giving work to the students, teachers should see that students do the set of work correctly. Notebooks, Workbooks and Written assignments, which need correction, should be collected at the end of the period/lessons. The allocated classroom time is not meant for correcting note books but for the active engagement of students in learning activities.
(e) Teacher should prepare achievement test materials and administer them to students at the end of each unit and remedial action must be taken whenever necessary.
(f) Teachers’ are accountable for the performance of the students in the subjects she/he teaches.
Examinations:
(a) In classes III to XII, CCE system have been adopted. Therefore, teachers should follow the system and keep record of all assessments/tests etc.
(b) They should extend co-operation and participate fully in preparing examination papers, conducting examinations, marking answer sheets and preparing report under the guidance of the School Authorities.
(c) They should keep in mind that confidentiality must be maintained while setting of the question papers.
(d) They are required to act as invigilators as per ‘Invigilators’ Roaster’ and need to report to the Controller of the Examination at least 10 minutes before the examination starts. (Refer: Examination Bye-laws of CBSE).
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
(a) Ensure that the class room is kept neat and tidy.
(b) If a student is found damaging School/fellow student’s property or equipment, the matter must be reported without delay to the I/c Disciplinary Committee or superior authorities.
(c) Must not be given preferential treatment to the students on the basis of social standings, intellectual ability etc.
(d) Must not send students out to do errands for teachers or families.
(e) Should encourage students to speak in ENGLISH & HINDI except and otherwise for vernacular subjects since medium of instructions of SPS is English.
(f) Teachers are expected to give special attention to the behaviour of the students, in the class or inside the School Campus. They are expected to be exemplary and train the students for good manners, conduct and discipline.
(g) Lessons should be prepared to keep the students active and occupied. If students are engaged in meaningful activities there is a little scope for any mischievous activities.
(h) All class teachers should maintain Students Folder (Details of the students), Monthly attendance register and class log book.
(j) Strict discipline should be maintained during recess, self-study, and prep, in the games field and during travel on trips/ educational tours/ excursions etc.
(k) It is mandatory to take out pass while going out of the School Campus during the class or School hours from the concerned authorities.
(l) Teachers should employ simple corrective measures for punishments. Cases of repeated misbehavior and serious offences should be reported to the Discipline Committee/Principal. Every effort should be made to help the student’s reform themselves. In No circumstances teachers should inflict corporal punishment to the students.
(m) Residential Teachers are not permitted to visit their residence during school hours.
(n) Teachers’ are expected to update and upgrade their knowledge on various subjects, current affairs towards professional expertise and share the knowledge with the students.
