Recruitment for positions under a research project titled “AI-enabled low cost handheld device for
offline signature verification” sponsored by Directorate of Forensic Science Services (DFSS), Ministry
of Home Affairs (MHA), Govt. of India (GoI)

Applications are invited for the following project positions in a research project titled “AI-enabled low
cost handheld device for offline signature verification” under the supervision of Dr. Ajay Mittal, Professor, CSE,
UIET, Principal Investigator and other Co-PIs.

1. Position : Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
No. of Positions : One
Salary : Rs. 31,000 + 18% HRA = Rs. 36,580 per month
Essential Qualification:

a) Bachelor Degree/ Master Degree in Engineering and Technology in Computer Science/ Computer
Science and Engineering/ Information Technology/ Electronic Engineering/ Electronics and
Communication Engineering OR

b) Master in Computer Science/ Computer Applications OR
c) Bachelor in Science (Forensic Science)

AND
Have qualified UGC-NET/ GATE or a National level test by agencies and institutions like DST, DBT, DAE, DOS,
DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, ISSER, etc. in the specified fields of study

Desirable Experience:
a) Experience of working on image processing and machine learning projects specifically related to

signature verification, handwriting verification, forgery detection
b) Strong programming skills and proficiency in programming languages like Python along with associated

libraries like Tensorflow, Keras, PyTorch, OpenCV, PyQt, Tkinter

2. Position : Student Interns
No. of Positions : Two
Salary : Rs. 8000 per month (Consolidated)
Essential Qualification:

a) Students in the 2nd year/ 3rd year/ 4th year of Bachelor Degree/ Master Degree in Engineering and
Technology in Computer Science/ Computer Science and Engineering/ Information Technology/
Electronic Engineering/ Electronics and Communication Engineering OR

b) Students in the 2nd year/ 3rd year of Master in Computer Science/ Computer Applications OR Bachelor
in Science (Forensic Science)

Desirable Experience:
a) Experience of working on image processing and machine learning projects specifically related to

signature verification, handwriting verification, forgery detection
b) Strong programming skills and proficiency in programming languages like Python along with associated

Terms and Conditions:
1. The post is purely on contract basis. The duration of project is till November 2024. The continuity of

posts is till the grant for the positions is received from DFSS, MHA, GoI.
2. The appointment is terminable with 15 days notice from either side without assigning any reason thereof.
3. Since the project is purely temporary, the incumbents selected will have no claim for regular appointment

in any of the organization involved in the project or continuation of his/her services in any other project.
4. No benefit of DA, CCA, Bonus, Gratuity, Leave Travel Concession etc. will be given.
5. The incumbents selected will be governed by the disciplinary regulations of Panjab University,

Chandigarh or that of the institution where the incumbent selected is deputed.
6. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
