Openhouse
about us
At Openhouse, we are building a network of world class Early Years Centers in Bangalore and are looking for a passionate school leader who would like to lead a team of 30+ passionate educators.
Our schools are different from traditional K-12 schools or preschools. We are building learning hubs (micro-schools) at a neighbourhood level where parents can send children between ages 1-10 for play school, nursery, kindergarten and a range of co-curricular activities from dance to drama, chess to robotics!
We realise that in big urban metros, parents preferences are changing:
1. Families are more nuclear and there is a lot of parenting pressure especially in the early years.
2. Parents are dissatisfied with existing preschools due to an overemphasis on academics with subpar educators and infrastructure
3. Even after parents enroll their children in K-12 schools, the poor ratios in school make parents want support afterschool which is more play/ co-curricular based.
Looking at the above, Openhouse is trying to bridge the gap for modern thoughtful parents and be their support partner in the first 10 years of parenting. We have been on this mission since 2018 and have already 8 live schools across Bangalore and Kolkata where we help 4000+ families and mentor 200+ educators. The organization was founded by two Stanford University gradautes, Yash & Akshay, who returned to India and wanted to bring quality education more accessible and affordable.
Ideal candidate
Our ideal head of curriculum, preschool will be:
1. someone who is experienced on the learning side as well with people management.
2. in the past a lot of our team members have been ex-IB school educators or preschool leaders who are looking for more responsibility and the opportunity to impact more children.
3. have a love for play based learning and are aligned with modern child centric pedagogies such as IB/ Reggio/ Waldorf apart from Montessori.
The role’s biggest benefit is that you get to lead a micro-school without the pain of bureaucracy, lack of agility or lack of innovation that is often seen in K-12 schools. Our work environment is extremely hands on where we run these micro-schools like a community center where all educators and parents are aligned for the long term development of their children.
If you are interested to know more about the role or think it may be up your alley, please reach out to us for a brief chat. We promise you that you’ll have fun during the interview process as you meet our team of tinkerers and doers.
