Online Malayalam Tutor (Language & Culture) – Australian Students

Students: Australian Malayalee children
We are looking for a passionate Malayalam Tutor who can teach Malayalam language and Kerala culture to Australian Malayalee students in a simple, engaging, and child-friendly manner.
The tutor should help students connect emotionally with Kerala, understand its heritage, festivals, geography, and develop pride in their Malayalee identity, even while living abroad.
The tutor will be responsible for teaching:
Malayalam Language
- Basic Malayalam speaking, reading, and vocabulary
- Simple sentence formation
- Pronunciation and conversational Malayalam
- Malayalam words used at home and in daily life
Kerala Culture & Heritage
- Geography of Kerala (map reading, key cities, landscape)
- Kerala’s backwaters, hill stations, and natural beauty
- Festivals like Onam and Vishu
- Traditions such as pookalam, sadhya, customs
- Malayalam heritage songs and cultural activities
- Storytelling related to Kerala history and traditions
Responsibilities
- Conduct 1-on-1 or small group online classes
- Teach using interactive methods (stories, visuals, songs, activities)
- Make lessons fun, engaging, and age-appropriate
- Encourage students to speak Malayalam confidently
- Create a positive cultural connection for NRI students
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong command of Malayalam language
- Graduate/Post-graduate in Malayalam/Sociology
- Good understanding of Kerala culture, festivals, and traditions
- Ability to teach children living abroad (NRI students)
- Comfortable teaching in English + Malayalam
- Patient, friendly, and child-centric teaching approach
- Prior teaching/tutoring experience preferred
Nice to Have
Experience teaching NRI or international students
Ability to sing or teach Malayalam cultural songs
Creative teaching skills (storytelling, drawing, activities)
