Parent Outreach Specialist

Nayi Disha is a non-profit organization with an online resource centre, dedicated to educating, empowering and supporting families touched by Autism, Down’s Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. We equip caregivers with relevant information to improve their caregiving abilities, expand the list of care/ education/ therapy options available, and empower them to become stronger advocates for their wards. We bridge the information gap and empower caregivers, through our unique web-enabled and mobile-accessible web-portal ( www.nayi- disha.org) and have created a community of 20,000+ caregivers and providers.

We are creating information resources in Hindi and Telugu and our goal is to reach smaller towns and train the caregivers with this information.

Role: Parent Outreach Specialist

Location: With COVID situation, this will be WFH position. If it is safe and we reopen offices, we would like the candidate to be in Hyderabad and open to possible travel to other cities/small towns across

India

Primary Responsibilities

Helpline counselling:

• Work closely with Helpline lead and manage helpline queries including helpline counselling and caregiver counselling.
• Identify ways and means to enhance our counselling services for families
• Collate, store, and manage helpline data for easy access and retrieval

Conduct Parent Support group meets/Training webinars

• Work with your team lead to identify the objectives and requirements of the target audience i.e parent communities, we engage with on a regular basis.
• Identify, plan and engage with subject-matter experts/Partner NGOs and invite them to participate in training our target audience.
• Facilitate workshops, parent training programs
• Facilitating support groups and moderating community groups
• Document and maintain data derived from webinar and support group sessions

Content writing and Research:

• Ideate and develop high-quality and user-friendly content to address the information needs of our target audience (parent communities, pertinent to developmental disabilities) in accordance with the organization’s core ethics and identity.
• Adhere to strict internal ethical policies when creating all forms of content and ensure they are uploaded to the webpage in a clear, consistent, simple manner free of any copyright infringement.

• Engage and interact with peer support groups to identify key requirements for content development that provokes effective peer group engagement.
• Engage and lead target audience surveys or focus group discussions to understand the impact of information resources available on the website for internal monitoring and improvement.

Desired Profile

• Knowledge/Experience in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities domain is a must
• Counselling skills and ability to be a listener.
• Ability to put the dots together and make a connection.
• Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to make conversations with caregivers on very sensitive topics related to their child’s health and disability.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all business information including parent data and respect their privacy
• Strong computer skills (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access)
• Ability to set priorities and multitask, has to be a self-starter and create tracking mechanisms for own work
• Organized and detail oriented
• Ability to analyse data
• Proficient with Hindi apart from English and knowledge of additional local language Telugu,

Salary: ₹180,000.00 – ₹240,000.00 per year
