Role – Counsellor

Description:

Myna Mahila helps increase womens agency to help them meet their potential. Myna Mahila achieves this through its 3 verticals viz Myna Health, Myna Employ, Myna Research. Myna Mahila under its Myna Health vertical aims to provide health services access to 2 million women by 2025. Myna Health Education and Empowerment series is one such initiative by Myna Mahila to achieve its Goal. We provide a series of awareness sessions necessary for women to take care of her health. Inorder to ensure that a woman/ girl receives adequate support from her family members as well, the male members of her family are involved in these sessions. We have reached out to 15000+ beneficiaries through our Myna Health Education and Empowerment Series trained 20+ trainers to help us achieve this.

Role Purpose

The overall purpose of the Counsellor is to plan and conduct Counselling sessions (Career as well as mental health) among adolescents (women and girls from the low income group and build capacity of community level resources to streamline health services within the community. to the identified beneficiaries from the Community. (so as to build their capacity thereby enabling them to meet their potential and helping them in becoming self-dependant)

Key responsibilities

MENTAL HEALTH

  • Module development
  • Providing individual and group counselling to our beneficiaries.
  • Plan and implement workshops/training (online/offline)
  • Performing individual assessments
  • Ensure beneficiaries are linked to necessary support structures.
  • Help beneficiaries to develop health seeking behaviors CAREER
  • Module Development
  • Guide beneficiaries in determining their interests and abilities using methods, such as aptitude assessments, interviews etc
  • Counsel individuals, work with them to aid in the development of both hard and soft skills
  • Conduct group workshops on a variety of topics, including writing resumes and cover letters, successful job interviewing
  • Work with beneficiaries to overcome issues that could undermine their academic or career success
  • Performing individual assessments
  • Help beneficiaries create a long-term plan for reaching their career objectives
  • Connect beneficiaries to additional resources such as financial aid, vocational training, counseling and therapy services, medical care providers etc as and when needed.
  • Plan and implement programs and events such as workshops, orientation sessions, campus placement etc (online/offline)
  • Any other responsibility related to Project work assigned from time to time.

Reporting Relationship Functional reporting – Program Manager Administrative reporting – Centre Manager

Qualification

  • Graduate
  • At least one year of experience in community setting Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities
  • Good understanding of the local community practices and resources.
  • Ability to read and speak in the local language and Hindi.
  • Good problem solving, writing / documenting, communication, organizing and time management skills.
  • Self-learning approach and ability to take ownership over their work
  • End-to-end team management skills for identified and trained resources.
  • Ability to use Google Suite and Microsoft Tools -Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and google docs, sheets, slides
  • Travel for work across the city.
