Intervention: Foundational Literacy & Numeracy (FLN)
Position: Manager- Early Childhood Care Education
Level: Manager
Reporting to: Deputy Project Head (DPH)
Reportees: Assistant Managers / Co-ordinators
Role Description: To create and operationalise a multi-faceted strategy to ensure quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) for FLN, building on the momentum generated by the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020. The Manager (ECCE) will work closely with state governments and technical partners to design holistic ECE programs.
Position Summary:
- Understand the FLN & NIPUN Bharat Goals and Training Programmes and how it can be best utilized in classroom learning
- Thorough knowledge of the documents prescribed by the govt. bodies as it applies to early childhood education for teachers and students
- Should be able to research and analyze resources to refine and standardise the training program
- Proactively take initiative and come up with various idea to create interactive training modules
- Train the trainers to execute the teacher training
- Assess and discuss curriculum standards followed by different boards
Roles & Responsibilities:
Curriculum and instructional design: Support the state governments/technical partners in designing/quality assuring curricular and instructional materials such as learning progression, lesson plans, student worksheets, teacher guides, teacher training modules.
Assessment and monitoring design: Support the state governments/technical partners in developing assessment and monitoring tools for ECE classrooms such as assessment banks, classroom observation tools.
Capacity building: Support the capacity building of state academic officials to review and develop curricular and instructional material for ECE, design training plans for various levels of stakeholders & conduct continuous professional development workshops in multiple formats and monitor progress on goals.
Implementation quality: Regularly observe classrooms, participate in government meetings to gather data on program implementation, and create qualitative reports (monthly, quarterly, and annually)
Stakeholder management: Coordinate with relevant stakeholders (internal & external) and field teams on regular basis to drive project outputs.
Financial management: Preparing and managing budget for the intervention. Responsible for implementing activities in accordance with project or activity budgets. Responsible for fund utilization judiciously and follow compliance as defined by the organization.
Team Development and Supervision: Lead and guide the team in accomplishing set goals in time. Guide and mentor team and bring in inclusive practices.
Candidate Specifications:
Educational Qualification: Strong academic background (Bachelor / Masters degree) with a specialization in early childhood education (ECE) from leading Indian / International academic institutions
Teaching qualifications, certifications or fellowships such as Diploma in TFI/CENTA will be preferred.
Years of Experience: 5+ years of leadership experience in Pre Primary & Primary grade extensive teaching
Teaching experience children in the early childhood (3-6 years) age group (Experience in teaching in a government or low cost private school setting is preferred)
Curriculum development & instructional design experience (for ECE) including designing Learning Outcome progressions, Lesson Plans/Teacher Guides, Teaching and Learning aids, Worksheets
Experience in designing and delivering training, coaching, program implementation & capacity building programs for teachers and teacher coaches/administrators especially in mainstream/low-skill context
Knowledge and experience in Edutech and project management would be an added advantage
Technical Skills: Strong command on spoken and written Marathi, Hindi & English
Robust knowledge of the most recent relevant policies, regulations, theories and practices
Thorough understanding of school curriculum for the public / private sector
Good presentation skills.

Nature of job: Permanent
Location: KEF HO (Deonar, Mumbai)
Working hours: 08:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM or 9:00 AM 5:00 PM or
9:30 AM to 5:30 PM
Travelling requirements: Travel to project locations, to attend workshops, conferences, Donor meetings, other stakeholder meetings (approx. 20% time).
