MakeShift is working on introducing new subjects in the school curriculum as per the recommendations of National Education Policy 2020. We primarily focus on Design Thinking and Art Integration to develop an innovation and entrepreneurship mindset in children. Our pedagogical approach focuses on experiential education and problem-based learning.

We are building our curriculum and program teams to work with 100+ schools nationally. 

Opportunity:

We are hiring for the role of ‘Project Manager’ to lead an Art Education Project at MakeShift. Willingness to travel within Pune city and work in the field with government and low-income group schools is a must. The project manager will be responsible for a museum visit, session delivery and stakeholder management, including, but not limited to, government officials, school teachers, museum team, students, staff, etc.

These schools are located in Pune city. The Project manager needs to communicate and visit schools on a regular basis. Hence, the ability to communicate in Marathi is essential. Since Project Manager will work closely with school administration and teachers of government and low-income schools, certain personality traits are desirable.

Desired Candidate Profile

  1. Graduation/ Post Graduation in liberal arts, fine arts, visual communication, education, social sciences, management, or social work.
  2. Minimum 2 years of experience as a facilitator or teacher. 
  3. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Project Manager/ Coordinator role.
  4. Language requirements: Marathi, Hindi, and English. [reading, writing, speaking]
  5. Good storytelling and story-writing skills.
  6. Interest and hands-on skills in art, painting, and drawing. 
  7. Experience of working with Government schools such as Municipal Corporation schools, ZP Schools etc. 
  8. Must have proven experience in handling a team of 3 to 5 members.
  9. Able to work effectively and efficiently without constant supervision and meet deadlines. 

Competencies and Abilities

  • A dynamic person who is passionate about working with schools and communities.
  • The candidate should have a deep understanding of handling operations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Interest in storytelling, drawing, sketching, painting, designing, and storyboarding. 
  • Prior experience in coordinating operations in the education or social sector will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities 

  1. Oversee operations with a main focus on the proper implementation of the project.
  2. Setting up project management, reporting, and documentation process.
  3. Setting quarterly and yearly targets for project deliverables.
  4. Ensuring timely delivery of project deliverables. 
  5. Taking ownership of processes, and identifying a gap between expectations and actual delivery, help the team to fill the gap. 
  6. Take an active role in induction, training, planning sessions, workshops, and ongoing professional development.
  7. Manage execution of cartooning, storyboarding, and storytelling workshops in schools.
  8. Coordinate museum tours and sessions at PMC schools.
  9. Manage a team of 3-5 program facilitators, and other project staff and supervise their work. 
  10. Tracking documentation and progress of projects using project management tools.
  11. Fund utilisation tracking, reporting, quality checks, and resource allocation.
  12. Stakeholder management – museum team, students, teachers, govt/ corporate officials, etc. 
  13. Manage community development and engagement activities. 
  14. Assigning tasks to the team and assisting with schedule management.
  15. Planning, implementing and documenting sessions, events etc. 

Commitment: 12 months (as per the project cycle)
