JOB DESCRIPTION
IBDP Faculty – Piano ( Will also be responsible for IGCSE )
Reports to: Section Head
Role Description: – teacher is responsible for preparing and implementing a full educational and instructional plan
Mandatory Requirements :
1. Ability to teach the characteristics of European art music across Baroque to Modern periods.
2. Piano performing level between grade 6-8 and sight read music at minimum grade 5 level.
3. Music theory at advanced level (about grade 7/8 level imperative to teach the IGCSE listening and composition class
Roles and Responsibilities:
Academic Duties
Prepare Annual to Weekly / Daily Unit/Session plans according to the learning objectives.
Design instructional strategies based on learners previous knowledge and experience.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of individual learners and learner groups.
Plan appropriate assessments.
Review each learners progress and discuss the same with Section Heads.
Lookout for & address learning disabilities cases.
Plan and coordinate Field Trips, School Events and Guest Speaker visits with the School Heads.
Ensure that Value-Add programmes that are curriculum extensions are being optimally delivered at each grade level as planned.
Maintain required Physical Environment for Learning:
a. Arrange classroom seating to facilitate the achievement of learning goals and positive
management of behavior.
b Prepare classroom displays as a visual aid to learning.
c. Display childrens work periodically to make their learning visible.
Coordination and Documentation
a. Attend regular meetings with the Principal, School Heads, co-teachers, Heads of Department and Section meetings
b. Follow and maintain all required administrative protocols and records
Communication with Parents
a. P l a n thoroughly for and participate in Parent Academic Orientations at the commencement of every Semester.
b. Participate in meetings with parents to communicate academic or behavioural concerns c. Coordinate or communicate with Class Parents to activate an information chain
d. Plan thoroughly for Progress Review Day interactions with parents to give formal
feedback on learners progress.
