Team Overview

As one of fastest growing practice in DA&S, Infrastructure and Climate Advisory (ICA) team at KGS invites like-minded professionals to help us drive progress and change. At KGS ICA practice, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team across a range of industries to assist public and private sector organizations involved in infrastructure to deliver desired outcomes, whether for society or for businesses. We are the Centre of Excellence for KPMG’s Global practices, helping our clients better understand evolving policy and regulatory environment, business and commercial risks, as well as providing commercial and strategic advice on complex infrastructure and capital projects. You will work on wide range of infrastructure sectors including transport, energy, digital as well as social infrastructure, with diverse clientage such as public sector entities, infrastructure owners, project developers, large corporates, contractors, equity investors and financers.

The role will be based out of KPMG’s Gurugram and Mumbai offices and liaise cross-functionally with leaders across the business to drive internal and external engagement.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Working as a member of the team your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Delivering Client Engagements:

• Leading and delivering commercial and market assessments, strategic studies, value proposition development and business plan reviews for infrastructure projects/clients
• Driving the design of commercial and financial analysis e.g. market analysis, business model analysis, business case development, socio-economic analysis and VfM analysis
• Leading the development and evaluation of financial models, M&A (buy and sell side) projects and project finance models
• Being actively involved in structuring the client outputs and its delivery
• Securing additional work for the current engagement or for related opportunities

Stakeholder management:

• Actively building and managing the relationships and interface with Global KPMG Infrastructure teams and other deal advisory professionals
• Supporting KPMG onshore teams on initiatives including preparation of proposals and expressions of interest

Practice Development:

• Directing, managing, and mentoring junior team members on engagements
• Training and mentoring junior staff and contribute to the overall skills enhancement and experience of the team
• Recruiting, managing, and contributing to the development of junior staff
• Ensuring KPMG’s quality and risk management procedures are completed to the appropriate standard
• Pro-actively keeping up to date in your field of profession on a global level
• Contributing to point of views, thought leadership and knowledge management to support practice development

Essential skills required Education / Professional:

MBAs, Economists and Engineers from a leading Indian/International educational institution

Prior Experience:

• Relevant experience (5-6 years) in strategy gained through corporate roles, strategic consulting, or public sector organizations.
• Understanding of the procurement lifecycle, growth strategy, feasibility studies, financial models, business cases, M&A deals, infrastructure program financing and project implementation

The ideal candidate would:

• Have ability to deal with ambiguity and to put in place frameworks and structure
• Be skilled in financial modelling and financial analysis and have an experience in modelling and valuation principals
• Be goal driven – should be focused on helping clients meet their requirements – by developing answers and solutions when client requirement remains unclear / changes, and by providing relevant insights and key questions to fit the client objective
• Have a credible record of operating at a team management level
• Have mentored, coached, appraised junior team members
• Have experience of or exposure of working on one or more infrastructure sector/sub sectors such as Transport, Social Infrastructure, Urban development and Municipalities
• Understand Financial analysis and interpretation
• Have commercial awareness
• Have strong analytical skills and strong written, communication and presentation skills
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Projects)
• Have creativity in pictorial representation of data, preparing decks for client presentations
• Have familiarity with data visualization tools like PowerBI/Qliksense/Tableau would be an advantage
