Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Implementation: Design and deliver a challenging and inquiry-based English language and literature curriculum that aligns with the MYP framework, focusing on the development of language skills, literary analysis, and critical thinking.
- Assessment: Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate student learning and provide timely and constructive feedback.
- Differentiated Instruction: Implement strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including those with varying language proficiency levels and learning styles.
- Inquiry-Based Learning: Foster a culture of inquiry and research, encouraging students to explore topics in depth and develop a deep understanding of English language and literature.
- Interdisciplinary Teaching: Collaborate with other MYP subject teachers to create interdisciplinary learning experiences and projects that integrate English into broader educational contexts.
- Global Perspective: Infuse global perspectives and multicultural literature into the curriculum to promote international-mindedness and a broader understanding of the world.
- Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in IB education, attend relevant workshops and conferences, and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Parent and Community Engagement: Maintain open communication with parents, attend parent-teacher conferences, and engage with the school community through meetings and events.
- Extracurricular Activities: Participate in or lead extracurricular activities related to English language and literature, such as writing clubs, book clubs, or literary events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience teaching English at the middle school level, preferably within an IB MYP context.
- Familiarity with the IB MYP framework and assessment practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Enthusiasm for continuous professional growth and development.
