Job summary

Inventure Academy, one of Bangalore’s best international schools, is looking for teacher-leaders with a strong passion for teaching and learning and a commitment to improving student outcomes. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Primary School English Subject Lead to lead and coordinate Inventure’s English program for Primary School students, ensuring high-quality instruction and promoting student achievement and engagement.

Key areas you will be responsible for/job description:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive English program for Primary School students, aligned with the school’s curriculum and academic standards.
  • Lead and mentor a team of English teachers, providing guidance and support for their professional development.
  • Monitor student progress in English, assess student achievement, and provide feedback to teachers, parents and Inventure’s leadership team.
  • Collaborate with other subject leads and school leadership to ensure the interdisciplinary learning across subjects and activities.
  • Participate in school events and co-curricular activities, promoting the school’s Vision, Core Purpose & Values and Definition of Learning.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in English instruction & curriculum design and best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Manage resources, materials, and technology related to the English program, ensuring their effective use and maintenance.

Competencies and job qualifications required:

  • Education:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field.
  • Valid Teaching Certification(s).
  • Experience:
  • 7-10 years of full-time teaching experience in the relevant subject areas. Experience in teaching CIE/IB Curriculum will be an advantage for teaching Grades 4 & 5.
  • Training and experience in use of Jolly Phonics.
  • Deep understanding of the subject they are leading – thorough knowledge of the content, Competencies, and concepts that students need to learn and be able to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
  • Understand, assimilate, translate and create the modules for knowledge; teaching and learning strategies for the Primary school classroom practices.
  • Exposure to the Lucy Calkins Reading and Writing workshop methodology is a definite advantage.
  • Experience in developing and implementing curriculum plans; evaluate and modify existing curricula to improve student learning outcomes
