Designation: Associate Professor
Essential Qualifications:
- (i) Ph.D. degree in Economics/Bio-statistics/Public Health
- (ii) Demonstrable track record of research and policy analysis in the areas of health
economics/public health with a proven focus on empirical research.
At least 7
publications in peer-reviewed economics/public health journals, with a minimum of 3 in
the last 5 years - (iii) A minimum of 12 years of experience after Ph.D. This can be relaxed in special cases
for deserving candidates.
Note:
- In case the candidate is not found suitable for the post of Associate Professor against the
above, the Institute may consider appointing Assistant Professor at Pay Matrix
Level 10 to 12 as per 7th CPC with a minimum of 3 years and above experience after
Ph.D.
Age:
- Below 45 years (relaxable by Selection Committee in special cases based on merit).
Pay Level as per 7th CPC:
- At Academic Level-13A, Pay Band

The Institute of Economic Growth (IEG) is an autonomous, multidisciplinary Centre for advanced research and training. Widely recognized as a Centre of excellence, it is one of India’s leading academic institutions in the fields of economic and social development. Established in 1958, its faculty of about 23 social scientists (economists, demographers and sociologists) and a large body of supporting research staff focus on emerging and often cutting-edge areas of social and policy concern. In addition, the Institute organizes regular training programmes for the trainee officers of the Indian Economic Service and occasional courses for officers of the Indian Statistical Service, NABARD, and university teachers. The Institute’s faculty members also supervise doctoral students from India and abroad, provide regular policy inputs, and engage with government, civil society and international organisations. Over the years IEG has hosted many renowned international scholars, including Nobel Laureates Elinor Ostrom and Amartya Sen, and others such as Ronald Dore, Yujiro Hayami, Jan Breman and Nicolas Stern.
