The role of the shadow teacher is to support the autistic, ADHD, and learning disability child based on the clients allotted at school academically and psychologically.

Selected intern’s day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. Providing help with instructions given in class, preparing the child for class, and behavioral support to sit in the classroom

2. Academics: Breaking down concepts and explaining the same to the child in a simpler way, giving necessary prompts

3. Behavior: Making the child sit in class, making him participate with other children, teaching skills like turn taking

4. Identifying trigger areas that can result in self-harm behavior or meltdowns and helping the child during the same

5. Providing socio-emotional support and helping them understand and manage their emotions and behavior

6. Helping the child with social and peer interaction in the classroom and also providing gross motor fine motor related support for children in the classroom setting

7. Creating customized activities based on the child’s interest and collaborating with the parents and teachers with regard to the child’s progress

8. Attending all the trainings and workshops organized by the company
