Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ) is an initiative of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC). Founded in 1966, GJEPC is the apex body driving India’s export-led growth in the gem and jewelry sector, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India. IIGJ campuses are located in Mumbai, New Delhi, Jaipur, Varanasi, and Udupi – offering post-graduate and undergraduate degrees, diplomas, professional certifications, and programs for students and industry professionals, with an alumni base of 22,000+ members.
JOB OVERVIEW:
We seek a visionary Director of Academic Administration to lead our academic endeavors and ensure our offerings are at the cutting edge of industry requirements. As the National Head of Academic Design & Administration, you will play a pivotal role in setting the academic vision and direction of our institutes, overseeing curriculum development matching global standards, realigning the existing curriculum, introducing new courses and programs, and being overall in charge of academic administration in all the campuses. You will be responsible for shaping the educational journey of our students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to excel in the gems and jewellery sector.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Academic Vision and Innovation:
– Conduct in-depth research and analysis to identify industry trends, market dynamics, and technological advancements.
– Lead the conceptualization and development of innovative academic programs, ensuring alignment with industry needs and global standards.
– Continuously review and enhance existing curricula to provide a state-of-the-art education.
2. Curriculum Leadership:
– Develop comprehensive and industry-relevant course structures and curricula, harnessing the expertise of subject matter specialists, industry professionals, and faculty.
– Integrate practical, hands-on learning experiences, real-world case studies, and projects to make the curriculum engaging and industry-ready.
3. Faculty Excellence:
– Oversee the recruitment and onboarding of talented faculty members, ensuring that our academic staff has the skills and knowledge to deliver quality education.
– Champion faculty development programs to enhance pedagogy, subject-matter expertise, and industry connections.
– Cultivate a culture of continuous learning and professional growth among faculty members.
4. Academic Administration:
– Manage the scheduling of classes, examinations, assessments, and all academic events to maintain an efficient and effective academic calendar.
– Monitor student performance, offer academic support, and implement strategies to promote student success.
– Coordinate industry visits and internships to provide students with practical exposure and enhance their employability.
5. Quality Assurance:
– Establish and uphold rigorous quality assurance standards for academic programs, assessments, term-end examinations, and faculty performance.
– Regularly evaluate and assess courses, leveraging feedback from students, faculty, and industry partners to drive continuous improvement.
6. Collaboration and Industry Engagement:
– Forge strategic partnerships with industry leaders, and domain experts within the gems and jewellery sector to ensure a steady flow of top-notch visiting lecturers.
– Collaborate with industry experts to design specialized workshops, seminars, and guest lectures for students.
– Stay at the forefront of industry developments, fostering relationships that ensure our curriculum remains relevant and industry-aligned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
– A Master’s or Doctorate degree in a relevant field, such as Education, Design, Gems & Jewellery, or Business Administration.
– 15-20 years of progressive experience in higher education academic design and administration, with a preference for those with expertise in the gems and jewellery industry.
– A proven track record in developing successful academic programs, curriculum, and faculty teams.
– An in-depth understanding of industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging technologies in the gems and jewelry sector.
– Exceptional leadership qualities, including the ability to inspire and mentor academic staff.
