Purpose

The Education Counsellor will provide information, advice, and processing of applications for international students seeking placement in education institutions. As a subject matter expert, they will also be responsible for mentoring, providing training to fellow counsellors on product knowledge, compliance/OSCAR adoption and supporting their ongoing professional development. This role will be working closely with the Team Leader and the Line Manager to provide necessary support in client meetings, office related events, team building initiatives, etc.

Key accountabilities

Sales Achievement

  • Provide information and advice to international students and their families regarding study abroad opportunities, in English and other languages as applicable.
  • Submit applications to institutions, obtain offers and facilitate enrolments.
  • Follow-up on leads and enquiries to maximise the number of applications submitted and finalised with IDP.

Technical and Professional Compliance

  • Possess a high level of product knowledge and competency in using OSCAR for managing student cases and running performance reports.
  • Be up to date about student visa conditions, client programs and processes.

Customer Service Orientation

  • Attend to student face-to-face, phone and email enquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage in-house interview sessions where students can meet representatives from institutions to submit applications on the spot.

Interaction and Teamwork

  • Provide input on marketing activities to promote IDP brand and services and work with Marketing Coordinator to coordinate the advertisements on community newspapers and websites.
  • Work with Marketing Manager & Team Leaders to develop relationships and projects with Institution representatives.

Specialist/Technical Expertise

  • International Student Counselling experience
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Outlook.
