JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Humanities/ STEM Teacher
REPORTING TO: Academic Principal and Head of School
COLLABORATES WITH: Teachers, Academic Principal, Head of School, Director of Residential Life
** This job is in-person in Amritsar, India **
PURPOSE OF JOB:
– Develop, maintain, refine, and deliver an engaging Interdisciplinary curriculum
– Design units that include learning expeditions, projects, and other hands-on activities
– Create learning experiences that utilize the on-campus learning spaces and promote interactions with the local community
– Establish and maintain a safe environment and purposeful working atmosphere which supports learning and in which students feel secure and confident
– Setting appropriate and demanding expectations for students’ learning, motivation and presentation of work
– Monitor student progress through effective assessment techniques and communicate progress to students and parents
– Model MPA’s Code of Conduct to demonstrate values, attitudes and behaviours that we expect from the students and staff
– Contribute to MPA’s community and experience by fully participating in school activities as and when required
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Work collaboratively with other teachers to plan, co-teach and assess an interdisciplinary curriculum
– Develop, maintain and continuously update existing unit plans and curriculum-related documents
– Embrace MPA’s philosophy of Learning with Purpose by focusing on creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and research skills
– Encourage and support students to take responsibility for their own learning to become self-directed learners
– Take into account the individual learning needs of students by differentiating work accordingly, utilizing effective teaching strategies, and offering out-of-class opportunities for support
– Maintain accurate records of student progress in line with the MPA’s Assessment Policy
– Supervise and support MPA learning programs like independent study options and online classes
– Contribute to the life of the school through effective participation in meetings and management systems necessary to coordinate the management of the school
– Participate in annual evaluation and professional growth, taking full advantage of professional development opportunities
– Be a Crew Leader and take responsibility for a Crew of young people
– Form a positive relationship with all parents of Crew members and update them with information when required
– Follow our procedures and policies on safeguarding
– In addition, carry out other duties as reasonably required by the AP/HoS
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
– A Bachelors’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field
– Minimum of two years of teaching experience in the relevant subject areas
– Computer skills at a level that permits the creative and effective use of technology in the classroom
– Ability to work effectively in a team, preferably involving both national and international staff
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
– International experience in a multicultural environment
– Experience in teaching an international curriculum
– Familiarity with Loom, Padlet, Zoom, Office, G Suite
– Candidates with arts, music and/or sports teaching experience will be given preference
