ENGINEERING PRINCIPAL- JOB DESCRIPTION
The Principal is responsible for, but not limited to, academic planning, enhancement of programs, curriculum, teaching, accreditation, ensure institution adheres to university and AICTE rules and regulations, affiliation, recruitment of faculty, faculty development and evaluation, student recruitment, advising, budget development, and allocation of resources.
1. PhD in Engineering Sciences from reputed or from any recognized international university/institute as per AICTE norms
2. Preferred having completed any one of the graduate program (UG or PG) from nationally reputed institute like IIT/NIT/IISc etc.
3. Record of teaching, professional development/scholarly work, and experience to warrant faculty rank of Professor.
4. Fifteen years teaching experience at reputed university with evidence of graduate teaching experience or a mixed teaching and industry experience with the latest showing experience in leadership position. Post PhD experience should not be less than 5 years either in academic industry or both.
5. Understanding of appropriate national or international accreditation work related to higher education, preferably having national review experience.
6. Exceptional communication and listening skills, with demonstrated experience in persuading others to help meet the advancement and other goals of the college of engineering or comparable organization. He or she should have unassailable personal and academic integrity.
Responsibilities
Provide leadership, working with the faculty, to achieve the mission of the college in the area softeaching, scholarship, and service.
To ensure the institution adheres to rules and regulations set forth by the University.
To monitor and oversee all procedures for continuation of affiliation at University and AICTE ;represent institution before university during LIC visits, continuation of Affiliation Processes.
To ensure all AICTE mandated requirements are met by the institution.
Foster an institutional attitude and department/institute climate that promotes a collegial environment and excellence including advising.
Represent and promote the campus fraternity both internally and externally. Implement academic policies.
Budget evaluations, resource allocations for various Engineering departments with appropriate justification; monitor and allocate funds from the approved budget.
Provide leadership in the area of faculty development and professional growth. Ensure orientation of all new faculty and adjunct faculty.
Recommend faculty for promotion and continuing contract during probationary peridots the HR department Encourage faculty grant writing and acquisition of external funds in coordination with the Competent Authority
Supervise the activities of the department HOD’s and advise and mentor new department Hod’s
Ensure regular department and College meetings, completion of both the annual faculty performance evaluations and student assessments of faculty/course.
Review and approve all curricular requests and coordinate instruction, ensuring programs meet state and accreditation standards. Ensure completion of assessment for all curricular majors.
Assist in the establishment of and support for the orderly and regular review of programs and curriculum.
Maintain open, positive channels of communication with all Institution and stakeholders. Provide leadership to students in academic endeavors and co-curricular activities. Ensure all students are advised and have a program of study.
Respond to student academic concerns and seek resolution at the faculty level, ensuring that accurate records of these issues are maintained.
Participate in the establishment of the vision, long-term and short-term planning documents and decision-making and assist with strategic planning.
Demonstrate high participation in all levels of the assessment process. Monitor and distribute assessment data appropriately and use results in annual planning process.
Ensure regulatory compliance and accreditation standards as well as appropriate local regulations, wherever applicable. To work with IQAC and to prepare for accreditation from bodies like NAAC, NBA, NIRF.
