An academic manager typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:Overseeing the development of academic standards and policies across departments, schools, or colleges within an institution
Managing the day-to-day operations of a college or university department, such as admissions, student services, advising, or recruitment
Managing the budget for their department or school, including allocating funds to meet departmental needs
Overseeing the hiring of faculty members to ensure that they meet the academic qualifications required by the institution
Making recommendations about tenure candidates for promotion to full professor based on their research achievements, teaching performance, and service to the university community
Overseeing the hiring and termination of faculty members, including providing feedback on performance to promote excellence in teaching and research
Reviewing academic programs to ensure that they meet institutional standards and responding to any concerns raised by faculty members or students
Coordinating the activities of individuals who support the academic pursuits of students, such as deans of student affairs or registrar
