[What the role is]

Muis is initiating the development of a higher educational institution as part of the larger plans to strengthen the education and training opportunities for Singapore’s Islamic scholars and teachers. The higher education institution is envisioned to offer both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and we seek a dynamic individual with experience in Islamic Studies and/or Social Sciences curriculum development and delivery, to join us.

[What you will be working on]

Key Function:

The officer will be tasked to support the planning, development and evaluation of the education programmes of the Singapore Islamic College (SIC).

Key Responsibilities:

A) Curriculum Management and Refinements for the PCICS programme ():

Maintain and Update Curriculum Materials: Ensure that all course materials, modules, and assessments are current, up-to-date, and aligned with the programme’s educational objectives. Coordinate with Instructors and Designers: Collaborate with instructors and instructional designers to facilitate necessary updates and improvements to course materials and assessments. Evaluations and Improvements: Lead programme evaluation efforts and work collaboratively with relevant teams to identify and implement enhancements and improvements to programme content and structure, with a focus on fostering academic excellence.

B) Undergraduate Curriculum Development:

Project Management: Oversee and manage the curriculum development timeline and schedule. Curriculum Research: Coordinate research on curriculum approaches at higher education institutions, which will support the conceptualization of the undergraduate curriculum philosophy and framework. Engagement Activities: Organize and lead a series of activities to engage knowledgeable individuals in the conceptualization of the curriculum’s philosophy, framework and syllabus. Collaborate with Curriculum Developers: Continuously scan for useful resources and materials to facilitate and guide the work of curriculum developers.

C) Other administrative responsibilities which may include:

secretariat duties (note-taking, presentations, agenda-setting and scheduling). ensuring that curriculum materials and processes comply with relevant educational standards and regulations. coordinate assessments, collect data and conduct evaluations of the curriculum to measure its effectiveness. develop and manage budgets for curriculum development, ensuring cost-effectiveness. communication with institutional partners in writing and in person.

[What we are looking for]

Qualifications:

Tertiary education in Islamic Studies, the Social Sciences or Curriculum Development

Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate should possess proven curriculum development expertise in Islamic Studies and/or Social Sciences for higher education. Proficiency in project management , strong communication skills , and the ability to coordinate assessments and analyze data for curriculum enhancement.

Successful candidate will be appointed on contract basis.
