About Us:
Good Business Lab is a not-for-profit worker well-being research organization. We design and evaluate programs that can find common ground between worker well-being in blue-collar settings and business interests, and then through our newest initiative GBL ventures develop and scale products based on our research. We’ve worked with corporates such as Shahi Exports, Radnik Exports, H&M, Gap Inc., and GANNI, and are backed by funders such as Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and academics at the world’s top universities such as Harvard Business School.
Our founding team brings together two US-based academics who are professors at the University of Michigan and UC San Diego and have PhDs in economics from Yale University and the head of Organizational Development at Shahi Exports, India’s largest apparel manufacturer. Our work is spread across labour-intensive industries (e.g., garment, electronics, and automobile manufacturing, retail, and food service) in the global south and we maintain offices in India, the US, and Latin America.
We have over 100 global full-time staff across offices worldwide, 17 completed and 16+ ongoing projects across gender, skilling, workplace environment, and health issues, and over 200,000 workers directly impacted.
Length of Commitment: 3 months
Location: Bengaluru
Remuneration: 50,000 per month

Role Summary:
- Be responsible for creating and reviewing the data collection tools (qualitative interview questionnaires).
- Conduct qualitative interviews and FGDs with stakeholders across various positional levels.
- Identifying participants based through apt sampling techniques.
- Lead the data analysis and synthesis process.
- Lead sessions for ideation and prototyping of solutions.
- Assist in creating reports of the work undertaken.
- Work closely with other team members to create a comprehensive solution deck
Qualification & Experience:

- A Graduate/Postgraduate/ M.Phil. Degree from a relevant discipline.
- At least 1-2 years of professional/research work experience in relevant fields.
- Proficiency in languages – English and regional languages (Hindi, Kannada, Marathi and Tamil)
- Experience with qualitative research including ethnographic methods, ESM method, Participatory Research techniques, analysis and synthesis, and report writing, and other relevant methodologies.
- Working knowledge of Research Tools (NVivo, Dedoose etc.)
- Desirable: A portfolio demonstrating your work and research skills
Roles & Responsibilities:

- You will be working closely with the Design, Partnerships, and Research teams at GBL throughout your engagement.
- You will co-design qualitative research questionnaires used for primary data collection from the employees, supervisors and managerial staff of the firms. Other stakeholders include experts in the field, educators, and trainers.
- You will play an active role in the primary data collection process, both virtual and in-person
- Upon completion of data collection, you work with the team to analyze and synthesize data from various stakeholders to identify gaps and opportunities
- Actively participate whiteboard sessions to ideate solutions to close the gaps, and innovate new ways for the automotive industry to attract, hire and retain more women in their workforce
- You will also assist the team in validating the solutions, and prototyping them
- Finally, you will work closely with the team in drafting reports on the process, and findings of this study
