Job Description
Role & responsibilities
- Individual Counselling: Provide one-on-one counselling sessions to students dealing with academic, personal, and social issues.
- Career Counselling: Assist students in making informed decisions about their academic and career paths. Provide guidance on course selection, college applications, and career exploration.
- Mental Health Support: Identify and support students who may be struggling with mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, or stress. Collaborate with parents and professionals when necessary.
- Conflict Resolution: Mediate and resolve conflicts among students, promoting a safe and inclusive school environment. Encourage healthy communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Preventative Programs: Develop and implement programs to address issues like bullying, substance abuse, and stress management. Promote mental health awareness and well-being.
- Educational Support: Work closely with teachers to address academic challenges, provide study skills and time management strategies, and assist with academic goal-setting, as required.
- Parent Engagement: Collaborate with parents to address their concerns and provide guidance on effective parenting strategies. Conduct workshops and informational sessions for parents on relevant topics, as required.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of counselling sessions and assessments, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Crisis Intervention: Be prepared to provide immediate support and counselling in case of emergencies or crises affecting students or the school community.
