Position Summary
Reporting to the Primary School Principal, the Deputy Principal is responsible to assist the Principal in the management of the school. Besides the discharge of specific administrative and management duties, the Deputy Principal also exercises a leadership and motivational role in the direction of the school enterprise. Together the Principal and the Deputy Principal form the Pedagogical Leadership team of the Primary school and work in tandem to fulfill the aims and objectives of the school.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assists the Principal in developing a school environment which is supportive of learning and high achievement among the students.
2. Assists the Principal to develop and provide appropriate learning and curriculum programmes and methods of instruction and meet the needs of all students in the school and timetable to support them.
3. Promote effective teaching and learning practices across the school.
4. Assist in the development of the school curriculum and assessment policies. 5. Assists the Principal in developing and implementing systems for recording individual students progress and ensures that parents are informed regularly of the progress of their children at the school.
6. Constructs timetables
7. Assist the Principal in supporting the monitoring and evaluation of teaching and learning across the school and contribute to school self-evaluation and the development of improvement plans.
8. Organize observation and supervision of educational activities.
9. Observe and assess educational processes and their outcomes.
10. Consult and advise teachers on the implementation of the curriculum.
11. When needed, plan and participate in parent conferences in matters of extreme importance, such as identification of learning difficulties, serious behavioral problems, or recommendation for professional services.
12. Ensures that all teachers have established means by which to communicate with parents on a regular basis.
13. Along with the Principal Conducts staff meetings on a regular basis.
14. Assists the Principal in the recruitment and interview process for new teachers.
15. Along with the Principal Orient new teachers.
16. Assist the Principal in developing the education aims and objectives of the school and devising strategies to achieve them.
17. Assist the Principal in co-ordinating the school plan and policies for approval by the School Board, day to day management of the school, including the planning and overseeing of the daily time tabling of classes
18. Develop a good working relationship with the Principal, coordinator and teaching staff.
19. Assist the Principal in promoting ongoing personal development and in-service and in the identification of the staffing needs of the school i.e. teaching and support staff.
20. Is responsible for the roster of absent teachers and the implementation of and monitoring of the Supervision and Substitution Scheme.
21. Plans logistics for all school events, along with Admin team
22. Oversees MAP testing, along with IT team
23. Arranges candidate visits (Grade 1 to 5) and administers MAP tests for them and present for interactions of prospective students from Reception to Kindergarten
24. Researches and builds relationship with schools and organisations, such as IAAT, Polymath, which helps recognise the exemplar work being done at , Primary
25. Deputy Principal that they will deputies for the Principal in their absence
Qualifications
Minimum Master’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum of five years of relevant teaching experience in a K-12 international school
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills that promote collegial interaction
Ability to work and collaborate with other departments, grades, and teachers. Strong leadership and people management skills . Organized, independent, motivated, and ability able to prioritize and manage time
