Job Description
Role & responsibilities
Teaching:
- Deliver lectures, seminars, and tutorials in English literature, language, or related subjects to undergraduate students and possibly postgraduate students.
- Develop and update course materials, including syllabi, reading lists, assignments, and assessments.
- Evaluate and grade students coursework, exams, and written assignments, providing constructive feedback to aid their academic development.
- Supervise and mentor students in their independent study projects, including guiding them on research methodology and academic writing.
Research:
- Conduct independent research in areas of English literature, language, or linguistics, aiming to publish findings in peer-reviewed academic journals.
- Present research findings at national and international conferences, contributing to the academic community.
- Seek opportunities to collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects within the department or across the university.
Student Mentorship:
- Provide academic advising to students, helping them with course selection, research opportunities, and career advice.
- Support students in developing critical thinking, analytical, and writing skills.
Service to the Department and University:
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development and academic planning.
- Serve on departmental or university committees, assisting with various administrative duties.
- Engage in activities that contribute to the overall functioning and growth of the department, such as organizing academic events or workshops.
Professional Development:
- Stay informed about current developments in the field of English studies through continuous professional development.
- Engage in activities that enhance teaching effectiveness, such as attending workshops or participating in teaching development programs.

Preferred candidate profile
Academic Qualifications:

- Ph.D. in English Literature, English Language, Linguistics, or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
- A strong academic record with evidence of research potential in a relevant area of English studies.
Experience:

- Previous teaching experience at the university level is highly desirable, though recent Ph.D. graduates with strong potential will also be considered.
- Experience in conducting independent research with publications in reputable academic journals.
Research and Publications:

- A solid record of research, demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals or academic presses.
- Experience presenting research at conferences is advantageous.
