CEPT University, established in 1962, is focused on understanding, designing, planning, constructing and managing human habitat. Its teaching programs are designed to build thoughtful professionals and its research programs aim to deepen the understanding of human habitat. CEPT University also undertakes advisory projects to further the goal of making habitats more livable. The Writing Center at CEPT University (WCC) aims to strengthen teaching and learning of writing. It is anchored under the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC). Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) at CEPT is to improve student learning outcomes by inspiring, supporting and strengthening new directions in pedagogy and learning. The role of TLC is that of a facilitator and a collaborator.

The TLC facilitates:

• Preparation for studio units and courses through structured workshops
• Sharing of good teaching practices among faculty members
• Innovation in teaching methods by partnering with faculty members
• Faculty development through online learning resources and peer learning

CEPT University invites applications for the position of Head, Writing Center – TLC. We are looking for professionals, who possess excellent communication, creative, Mentoring and coordination skills with an understanding of various operative processes at the university level.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Will be responsible for developing, overseeing and implementing the activities of the center.
• Identifying initiatives to strengthen the writing abilities among students.
• Developing and maintaining resources for the Teaching Associates (TAs) and Tutors of writing courses.
• Conducting training of Teaching Associates (TAs) for the writing courses.
• Identifying institutional and individual resources to provide remedial assistance for English language proficiency among students.
• Identify and implement other activities to further the mission of the center.

Academic Qualification: 

• Post Graduate degree in the field of Architecture/Design/Planning or Ph.D. in English literature or in Urban Arts and Humanities.
• 10 years of experience with at least 5 years of professional experience in writing and communication, preferably in related domains of Architecture/ Design/ Planning, ideally in the Urban sector.

Expertise Required: 

• A demonstrated proficiency with writing and the ability to differentiate between professional writing and academic writing.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal teams, external organizations, and students.
• Publications in reputed Academic and Professional journals.
• High proficiency in English, and working knowledge of Hindi / Gujarati.
• Ability and experience to design and deliver short term writing courses at different levels such as beginner/ intermediate/ advanced.
• Proficiency with MS Office and with other reference management software’s. Knowledge of online learning platforms.
