Job Summary: As a Senior Academic Counselor, you will play a crucial role in providing guidance and support to students to help them navigate their academic journey successfully. You will be responsible for offering personalized advice, addressing academic concerns, and assisting students in setting and achieving their educational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Advising:
- Provide one-on-one academic advising to students, helping them understand academic requirements, select appropriate courses, and develop academic plans aligned with their goals.
- Assist students in exploring academic and career interests, discussing potential majors, minors, and related opportunities.
- Offer guidance on academic policies, procedures, and resources available to support student success.
Student Support:
- Serve as a resource for students facing academic challenges, offering support and intervention as needed.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other support services to provide holistic support to students experiencing academic difficulties.
- Refer students to appropriate resources for additional assistance, such as tutoring, counseling, or disability services.
Program Development:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of academic support programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing student success and retention.
- Participate in the design and delivery of workshops, seminars, and orientation sessions related to academic advising and student development.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions, academic plans, and progress towards degree completion.
- Generate reports and analyze data related to student outcomes, advising effectiveness, and programmatic impact.
- Use data-driven insights to identify trends, assess needs, and inform decision-making related to academic advising services.
Professional Development:
- Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and developments in the field of academic advising and student affairs.
- Engage in ongoing professional development activities, such as attending conferences, workshops, and training sessions.
