A shadow teacher is an educational assistant who works directly with a single special needs child during his preschool & primary school. A shadow teacher allows the child to attend a mainstream class while receiving the extra attention that he/she requires.

Selected Intern’s Day-to-day Responsibilities Include

• Accompany the child throughout the school day to provide support and stability
• Help the child understand and display appropriate behavior in the classroom
• Work on supporting and providing guidance for carrying out daily academic activities at school
• Provide individual support to the child throughout the school hours
• Help the child become responsible thus fostering independence and encouraging learning
